What do those French bugs eat - super glue?
It's a nightmare trying to get the 250,000 of them off the car.

Anyone got any tips for next year to stop them sticking like glue?

I found a problem telling the difference between the French ones and the English ones. AS counting them for that Roadkill survey

Have found a few that seem to have baguettes under there arms... but the bonnet is shear carnage

Get a wet towel and leave it over the bugs for a few minutes. They should then wash off easily.

Not budging these beggers.

Soaked and washed the front of the car 3 times now over two hours and it still
looks like splat central.

Sure the 'crispy' bits have gone, but the goo remains.
Wonder if Halfwits do anything?
Mind you they might suggest sandpaper knowing them...

Buy a couple of boxes of baby-arse wetnaps..cover/wrap the car and leave for a length of time.

dunno if that works but its worth a shot (unless it strips your paint..but then again at least the bugs are off)

Mr Muscle orange worked on my wedge.

Gove the car a good few squirts, leave for about 5 mins, apply a second coat, then remove with a warm sponge.
Even shifts the road grime that accumulates.

Luckily, my Elise broke down at Calais ?, got towed on to the ferry by chelseatractor, went in for warranty repairs and came out fully valleted! Result!

No bugs, just a nice clean motor!

Have to break down again next year, only this time, hopefully back in Blighty!

thanks to mrmaggit:

Put an old tshirt on to the car where the flys are whilst hosing the car down.
Make the whole tshirt wet and leave it there for 5
mins whislt doing the rest of the car.
Slide the tshirt off and voila, no more flys.

LOL - and anyway, they're born in Belgium and fly across the border...

Still no joy. Tried the above and used the Turtle wax bug wipes. Spent 2 hours just on the
front so far and they are still there.

The blood of these critters must be toxic waste.

Might install one of those electric bug frazzlers on the front of my car next year!

Kasher Jet Wash the bastards!

I was in the Parade de Pilotes on Friday night so I went to a Self Lavage (Car Jet Wash) on the road into Arnage on Friday morning and did mine then. The Self Lavage is the dog's as it is so powerful, the bugs got blasted away.

I have one of those yellow Kasher Jet Washers and that gets rid of everything (including paint ) from the car.

I used wire wool and jif. Great for the bugs and also great paintwork preparation for my light conversion and front end respray!

Use cling film across the front facing edges of the car and don't travel after 8pm at night - it works if you don't mind looking like a prat

it don't work in the wet though - just lifts off and turns into a wet plastic scarf

I used the Halfords bug and tar shifter - seems to work reasonably well.

Vileda washing up pad thing with light green sponge on one side and darker green abrasive coating. It is safe for use on teflon pans etc. and has not knackered car paintwork!!

Alternatively put a french number plate on and they don't bother!

Swissol or Zymol claybar does the trick. Quick and effective with little elbow grease required.
