Podium Champagne

Does anyone know why Champagne was sprayed this year at Le mans?? I thought it was banned in France due to alcohol advertising and has never been sprayed over the past 11 years....

It wasnt sprayed last year but it was sprayed the other times I was under the podium in previous years

Didnt really find the champagne a huge Surprise they built it up to be. I thought thwey have got jordon to give out the prizes !!!!!!!!!!

IIRC someone in the motor racing world had died last year around the time of the race... and as a consequence they didn't spray the champagne - i might be mixing this up with something else though. (I think the same thing happened in one of the first GP's this season too.

Champage this year was excellent by the way, myself and PPS got absolutely drenched in Mr Herberts bottle of mumm.

I've been under the podium for the past 8 years and never seen champagne sprayed before, the only champers comes from team personnel and fans in the crowd.... I am pretty positive, but would love to be proved wrong....
