Either on the way down, while at Le mans, or on their way back?

While driving down the Mulsanne Saturday morning on the way to the PH meet there were no fewer than 3 laser speed traps being operated or setup... Did they get any "customers"?

On the way home last night apparently my guardian angel was out because I blew through a speed trap that was apparently in the process of being disassembled since nobody came to speak to me later about my selected cruising speed....

Amazing weekend Sucks to be working today, and more than 4 hours of sleep last night would have been nice! (got home at 3am)

I didn't go to LM so didn't get caught, but just want to congratulate you on your car, I have always wanted a Pantera, yours looks fantastic. Your log-in name gave me the clue.

Saw three speed traps between Le Mans and the beggining of the A28 just south of Le Harve/Rouen but nothing once on the Autoroutes. So took it easy at first and then opened up once on the Autoroutes. Still stayed within 30K of the limit though. Didn't see too many other sports cars en-route though. Plenty of Saloons and Campers with UK plates on but only about 2 TVR's and one other Porsche Maybe people were sticking round late to watch the football.

Came over a hill at 150mph in 911 side by side mates SAAB aero on the A28, Jammers went mad and saw a copper on the other side of the motorway half way up a hill, slammed on brakes and went passed the two police bikes under the bridge about a mile up with heart in mouth, they didnt follow so they must work!

Delighted to say I saw virtually nil police apart from the obvious Mulsanne cafe gun boys.

On the way down, just two bikes on a roundabout and on the way back last night,
saw one speed trap heading TO Le Mans.

Maybe they were all watching the footie?

Even the Mulsanne round to Arnage was clear for runs and we chased a T350 through
there after the race about 7:30 last night with the Cerbera fully loaded.

Hit 140 before backing off as a car loomed parked in the shadows only... to find people waving.

Not so lucky for me any my mate! He was in a Griff 500 and I was following - both of us were nicked doing 140kmh in what we thought was a 110kmh, however it turned out to be a 90kmh. I think we both held onto our licences for about 30 seconds once we were out of the cars before they were in the back pockets of the Gendarme - never to be seen again.

Luckily my friend had a passenger who drove his car home - I was unlucky and had to have it transported on a low loader - bill was about £1k in all

Just before the southern toll?

I went past them, just after overtaking a red 360 and a silver Noah S at about 130 & they - mercifully - stayed put

Thanks, it is a most practical Le Mans car... (I feel a thread hijack coming on...) Room for two sleeping bags, two air mattresses, a tent, a fold-up picnic table, a propane stove, clothes for two, a cooler, a well-stocked toolbox, etc etc etc.... I don't know what more you really need? It also allows you the opportunity to stretch your legs ever 90 minutes so you can feed another 80 liters of petrol in so you never get too cramped!

I was fortunate, on the way home yesterday afternoon, i was undertaking two cars on the autoroute just north of Rouen, when a policeman on a bike appeared as if from nowhere and flagged me down, when we stopped two more bikes appeared and he said he clocked me at 184km/h (114mph) and that would be 90 euros thank you very much. After about 15 minutes of writing out the ticket i was away again. I'm just glad i didn't get caught doing the same this side of the channel!! I dread to think what i would get for that!

Were you camping in Parking Blue near the road? I saw a white Pantera with Spainsh plates on there. Couldn't have been too many there.

Can verify this - followed them for a while - then got overtaken by a Green spitfire. yes, Green SPITFIRE. 148mph before the wife started REALLY screaming, so came off the gas BEFORE the police Radar. The spitfire gets caught by the police (two motorbikes hidden under a bridge).

Just as I am approaching the police bike / spitfire / police bike convoy, they wave the spitfire on and do ME!!!! As I got out the car with license in hand, I over heard the Police controller screaming at the policeman - NO, THE GREEN ONE YOU IDIOT. What ensued was an argument over the fact that the spitfire could not have been doing 150mph. They then let me go.

Caught up with Andy (above) at the next services and found the guy in the spitfire - he had a 2.5 litre turbo injection under the hood!!

Vive Les Gendarmes!!

Got a caution to slow down in the Smart (100kph in a 110kph zone, uphill) because I overtook an espace just before I spotted them and thought "oh ****"

Still, guess I didnt do anything illegal?

Run that by me again please. Am I missing something? When was ovetaking a slower vehicle within the speed limit illegal? I presume you didn't cross a solid white line or carry out the manouvre in the vicinity of a junction.

thats my point, I didnt think I did anything illegal (neither did dad) so I guess he was just telling me to keep the speed down thinking I was quicker than I was??

IT really goes to show a w@nker element on the french police force when they are picking on english Smart drivers and telling them to go more slower when they are already within the speed limit. Prize To$$ers who'll soon be able to put points on our licence thanks to Tony Bliar.
