Anyone know of a pub near the Portsmouth docks that has parking for a beer?.

We are leaving on the 11.45pm Portsmouth to Cherbourg overnight ferry with a Convoy of TVR with stripes, Lotus Exige , Porsche 966 with stripes, Caterham, a couple of BMW's and Audi's and 3 sports bikes. Anyone else on this ferry - give us a wave if you spot us.

Don't mean to sound patronising but have you been on the cross channel ferry from Pompey before? The only reason I ask is that you should have seen the pub right next to the ferry port?

Basically just before the queueing lines to the ferry there is a left hand bend into the port. On that bend is a pub. The car park is only small so you will probably have to park in the car park for the brittany ferries offices just past the pub on the right and walk back. Loads of le mans drinkers, and BBQ food on the go outside. I popped down last night to get me in the le mans mood and loads of petrolheads outside...

Schnozz - Thanks for that - do you know what the pub is called?

Obes - we are expecting to arrive about 9.30pm as well - are you going down the M3?

sorry no idea. Basically as you come down teh slip road for cross channel ferries you have to take a right turn at the roundabout - 4th exit i think. Then it becomes 2 or 3 lanes and you stay in the left hand lane, through a small set of traffic lights and the pubs in front of you. Carry on past it about 50 yards and the overhead gantry is marked out for the lanes for whatever company you are crossing with. You really cant miss it.

erm, be careful. The A34 is chaos at the moment as its being dug up at the M4. I came back from Derby sunday and decided to do M1, A43, M40 down to the M25 and M3. Its about another 60 miles but worth it if the A34 is a nightmare

I would have recommended the same pub as Shnozz.

If for any reason its closed then there is another pub on the roundabout just before you turn into the Ferry Port.

Its called the Air Ballon.

I cant recommend this pub as I havent been for years but its nice and close.

About 10 years ago it was a heavy metal pub (a good one too!). It then had a major clean up and become a live Jazz place. I've seen a wide selection of bands in there over the years!
