Right, I've got a PH Flag but no-where to stick it (steady now

Now I suppose I'd better put some thought to building a portable flagpole (one that I can pack onto the Blackbird)

I was thinking along the lines of some glass fibre that fishing rods are made from (or possibly some lashed togethor tent poles)

Ideas anyone ?

Yes! I've got a six metre telescopic pole which is fab. Mine came from Dunstable kites and cost around £7 or £8 but it is only telescopic fishing pole so I'd imagine you can get it from any fishing shop.

Mine comes with a rubber end cap on the bottom end, you can take that off and push the centre of it out so that the there is a hole at the bottom (although you could just take the end cap off as the pole is hollow). I then stick mine over a stake (rake handle with a point on the end - thanks Dad!). Dunstable kites suggested using a stake that is about 1.5 metres long, try to get half a metre in the ground and a metre above ground and it shouldn't go anywhere and you don't need to mess around with guy ropes (although I'm gonna try to tie mine down in some way so nobody walks off with it!)

I'm probably going to tie the flags to the pole with cable ties.

Best of all - it fits in the boot of the car!

Kite shop, brilliant, it never crossed my mind, had a quick scoot round the net and these are fairly close, so I'm off there this arvo to get some supplies

Ideally it should be about 4m above ground but in bits of less than 1m, i'll haver a look in the kite shop and let you know......

How thick is this conduit ?

I've got a 9metre fishing pole which I've fitted with guylines.

You will be able to tell it's my flag pole because I've got a fish-shaped windsock on the top of it. Seems appropriate for a fishing pole

How did you fit the guylines to the pole?

I've got a spinning multi coloured windsock on mine - I toyed with a pig one but it was, to be blunt, pig ugly!!! I like the fish logic though!

Well we should be easy to spot on the capsite chaps! We'll have 2 PH flags, a TVR flag and the City Region banner hanging up. Hope bad541T's gazebo can take the strain!

Errrrm - Tie a knot around the pole and then Gaffa Tape securely.

Guilty as charged.....

Go to the garden centre and buy some bamboo canes (usually come in bundles, each about 4ft long), lash them together with gaffer tape and bingo one flag pole.

All sorted, one hollow fibreglass 6 metre flapgpole (that collapses into a 1 metre length)

7.50 ukp from Dunstabale Kites

They have ones that go to 9 metres, but that's a bit excessive and probably a hazard for low flying aircraft

Errm - nope!
9metres is pretty small by Le Mans standards.

If yer in Maison Balnche look out for my 9 metre and come and say hello (Flying Fish, PH, Cornwall Pirates plus UJ)

Me Purple Monster Tiv flag is going on the paint roller pole for waving in the crowd

Ordered telescopic flagpoles from a link someone posted on here last year. Only problem was they arrived about 15 minutes after we left for the ferry! Turned out to be fishing poles, however will be taking them. Think we used parts of a spare gazebo last year.
