still searching around for late deals or something...

seen lots of tickets for sale from £30-75 so far, on places like here, ebay etc...

was wondering what (iyo) is the best? or send me a link to a similar topic (sure there's been hundreds on here before) on PH!

currently thinking something like karting nord is not so good as its cheaper but something like houx is better!?! yes? no?

at this point must i must, er, point out that for the past two years i've stayed at club motorsport and its bloody good... but i can't afford it this year!

cheers,
Gareth.

Well I'd say Houx is the best camp site, as it's the only one thats a camp site all the time, and not a converted carpark/field
It depends on the kit you've got really, if you don't need leccy hookups or showers etc cause your in a motorhome then it doesn't really matter, but traveling light it's got to be Houx with Maison Blache and Houx annex a close 2nd
I've always been amazed at the nutters who camp near Tetre Rouge, ok it's close to the track but having 250000 punters walk/urinate by your tent all night, and write in the dust on your car would wind me up

Well said, Tertre Rouge is the onyl site I wouldn't want to be in. All the other sites (other than Houx as mentioned above) are much of a muchness in the facilities, blue and MB have slightly better locations, but otherwise just get a ticket at decent price.

Is Tertre Rouge THAT bad???

Are you talking about the bit outside the track or the wee bit inside the track by the funfair and the Dunlop bridge???

We're booked in T/R this year as Houx was full so I'm hoping it's not as bad as people are making out.
Taking our own power, just hoping there's water there for the paddling pool!!!!

Might have to invest in the makeshift fence after all!

You've got me worried now!

I was at TR last year
see http://ombomb.kicks-ass.org/resources/2003/LeMans13-16June2003/page_01.htm

and I thought it was OK, people walk by but outside the fence.

There's a small shower block and running water which was Ok

At least you can see the track from your tent.

Mind you. I'm in Houx this year due to the group I'm going with.

what are the pikeys like? heard stories, but having only camped away from the circuit felt fine leaving cars unlocked, windows down with phones, cameras etc lying around!

Pikeys? You referring to me?

Yes, things do get stolen and you have to be reasonably careful. The thing one hears most about are generators going nicked just at the end of the race (ie. when EVERYONE is at the track) - locked up or not. Just be sensible really - don't leave anything on display that you care about.

As for campsites, I've been to LM about 5 times and would say (same theme as the others here!) that HOUX is the best by a long way. (Note Houx is totally different to Houx Annexe.) Marked plots, toilets, showers, security, electricity, near to the paddock - everything else is really ruffing it. That's why you see people bring motorhomes, toilets and LOTS of organisation! You can always get tickets on eBay - have a look at http://tinyurl.com/2tfh4

You did that as well didnt you?
(I looked up nuff but couldnt find his profile )

For a newbie best thing to do is walk around all the campsites when you are there and decide which you like best, then book it up next year.

We tried houx and preferred masion blanche (blanc/whatever) where we have returned to for the last 5-6 years.

Right with you there Dusty - will be my 3rd year in Maison blanche this year and it's cool. Excellent access to the track / grandstands / MRI Marquee, 99.9% brits, Friday night major hooning up the road next to MB, sunday night firework war against campling bleu. It's all good. Have to say that any lack of leccy has not made any difference, got the barby and the gazebo's - life is good. These 3 weeks cannot go quickly enough!
