Taxis from Le Mans on Friday Night

Can anyoone give me advice on catching taxis back to the circuit from Le Mans town on Friday night? I've heard it's almost impossible, is this true?

There are taxi ranks in the main square and at the train station but demand is high, so you just have to queue up and wait your turn, no worse than anywhere in the UK at closing time.

well last weekend was race weekend also in Le Mans... t'was the GP...

The other option is to flag down a local person and offer them money to take you back to the campsite. As Le Mans has a high student population, it's quite easy to do this - think it cost about 20Euros last year for 3 people back to 2 different sites.

It may need a modicum of French, but given the state I was in, I don't think I would have been highly fluent, and we got back okay!
