I was wondering if anyone has any web links or jpegs of maps of the site - I've done many a google search but no luck yet. This is our first time in Houx (previous years it's been Houx Annexe or Karting Nord)

We've just received our Houx camp permits (9 of) and they don't follow consecutively - well 5 do, 3 do and 1 seems by itself!!. It may be that some are opposite each other but without a map we can't be sure and at the moment it looks as though our group are going to be split up. The travel agent said that they issue the permits in strips which is how they receive them so you would like to think that the authorities issue them in some sort of logical order?

I was hoping any Houx veterans out there could give me some advice or pointers.

Cheers.

Thanks Pikey. It's map showing the pitch numbers I was after. It seems crazy that it isnt published anywhere - not that I've found yet anyway!!

But yeah looking forward to it and we will make sure we have a good time.

Cheers.

They seem to change the pitch numbers each year so a map may not be that useful. If your plots are seperated I'm sure you can swap with others once you arrive. We did last year.

I would imagine that would only work if the other person hadn't started putting the tent up!

Another solution may be to take the area from the numbers that are consecutive and put all 9 tents there as a social bit. Then put the cars that don't fit onto the other slots. You don't really need a car when there anyway.

That's a great map blondemoment.

I've had some luck, I trawled further back through this forum and somebody had mentioned that the TVR Car Club have maps. They don't have one in electronic format that they can email but a very helpful woman called Alison was able to describe to me where my pitches were and how they were in relation to each other.

It seems that 8 of my 9 are together, 5 are in a row and 3 back-to-back with 3 of the 5. The odd one we have is quite a distance a way - in the middle of the TVR Club allocations!! Maybe we can sub-let it as an overspill or car park -;

It's going to be a long 3 weeks until we go!!

Thanks for all the replies.

Apologies for the slight hijack here...

I think I've just managed to get a Houx camping ticket, I'm just slightly concerned by a reference on the Beermountain.com site (great site BTW guys) to the size of the pitches.

My tent is pretty huge measuring 6.7m x 4.9m - does anyone know the normal pitch size for Houx? Are all of the pitches standard or do they vary? Plus, presumably I need to get the car onto the same pitch?

I'll be there on Thursday afternoon how bad is it going to be if I can't fit the tent on the pitch?

Nice of you to post it to help others but aren't you supposed to give a credit to where you found it?????

This is from Stu on the Club Arnage forum who gives his own personal web space to help others.

Sorry, I know this is probably just a repro from an official ACO map but I just think it deserves a mention having read the forum rules.

Not sure of the exact size of the plot you get in Houx, but I don't think they're big enough for a tent that size!!
Some plots are a bit bigger than others, but then some are a bit smaller. And yes, you are supposed to get your car on too, but you can probably find somewhere else to put that.

Cheers,

Neil

Apologies. Yes, I did find it on the Club Arnage site, which is VERY informative.

I was only trying to help.

The pitchs are only a little bigger than a tesco's carpark space. Enough room to put a family car and a 3 man tent. You will need about 5 pitchs for your tent. I suggest you buy another tent before alienating your fellow campers.

Edit: Sorry that sounded a little harsh. But you'd be lucky in parts of Houx to get such a pitch size without a few trees in it.

Thanks barter, that's helpful, I'd rather have the honest approach! Changing the tent is an option but it sounds like whatever I end up with is going to be too big for Houx mmmm

I have a Beausejour pass as well but fancied Houx because of the leccy, I managed to snap up a Houx pass at face value but perhaps might have to sell it on again. Bu**er what a dilemma!

It's very nice though!!! I accept that there is a small possibility I got a just a little bit carried away when buying it!!!

Edited to say: it's not square at that size, it's got bits that poke out that make it that long and wide....really it's not that big....

...why not just arrive early, and swap the pitch markers around..

Really!, you got carried away!, for that size, a lot of the Phers could stay in it and not meet each other all weekend!

This is about the best picture I could find to show the size of a Houx camping plot......

1 pitch is from rock 1 to rock 4 and back as far the back of the car/tent

But some pitches can have a dirty great big tree growing out the middle of them

Your a star Raceboy, thanks very much that's really helpful. I reckon the tent will go on there and if I really can't get it all on the space I'll have to stick the car elsewhere!

Edited to say: will keep fingers crossed for no trees and perhaps euro's to grease palms if necessary!
