80s poster cars for CPOP parade - 14th June

Do you own the car of the 80s that was on your bedroom wall? If you do and want to show it off at the Pageant of Power, upload a pic of your car with the details at the bottom and then get voting. Simple as that.
The chosen lot will be given four complimentary day tickets for the event and the drivers will also be invited to the racing club for breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea courtesy of the Marquess of Cholmondeley.
Voting will close on 15th May.

Car: 1986 Porsche 944 Turbo aka 951, burgundy sport interior, M474 and LSD
My beloved 80's icon and one that is often considered to be a bit of a curio, my 1986 Porsche 944 Turbo. A metaphor for the aspirational era; a lusty sports GT that featured a luxury, comfortable environment yet unlike the 928 it could really attack a road and genuinely flatter the driver on track due to near perfect 50:50 weight distribution. More expensive than a contemporary 911 Carrera, but if the group tests of the day are to be believed, faster than a 930 on track; the thinking man’s Porsche of the 1980’s.

Where do you start?
Well, you can't see out of it, the gear change is crap, it sounds like an Escort, the turbo lag is interminable, the wastegate gurgles like a badly plumbed bog, it smells like a canoe full of petrol, the door handles are off a Marina, the steering column was nicked off a Princess and the upholstery was nicked from a tart's bedroom.
But it makes lots of people smile, especially me.
It is also the very last Giugiaro Turbo to be made in James Bond white.
There must be something about it, because I have owned the damn thing three times.

Here's my 1985 Renault Turbo 2, totally original apart from wheels & tyres (but will have originals back on soon)
Not many cars from the 80's are so distinctive & well known, everyone remembers these cars & it attracts an amazing amount of attention when out on the road, it's just undergone a 16 month recommissioning and is one of the best unrestored examples around

Make and Model: Mk1 MR2 Supercharged
Why it should be included (Keep to 100 words or less): This was an iconic 1980’s car that brought cheap fun sports cars to the masses. It was affordable, reliable and bags of fun to drive and spawned two more generations.
(if I were to vote, I would probably pick the Renault 5 above as it is lovely)

Lancia Delta integrale Evolution
Bit of hopeful late entry...... and go on then it's an early 90's version of an 80's icon I submit my integrale for considertation.
Remains the most successful world rally car of all time and homologation spun off an iconic road car. I bought the magazines, Fast Lane, Performance Car, Car and read as it was tested against all manner of exotica from Testarossa to 911 where it usually came out on top being one of the quickest point to point cars of its time. 25 years on and they still generate a smile and a thumbs up from petrolheads. Despite the relatively low build numbers it seems everyone had a mate who had a 'Grale.
It's probably the driver thats more deserving than the car (and i'm definitely pre 80's) having supported CPOP for the last 5 years including some very early wet early ones (See the James Martin Photo). I've manned the Club Lancia sport stand from Thursday to Sunday the last three years but starting a new business means I haven't the time to do it this year.
It's a great event for the North West.

Really pleased I've been picked for this, thanks PH! I'm now very busy with the car as I'm just completing a major suspension and drivetrain overhaul; when I heard the news the car had been picked much of it was in various pieces across my garage floor!... It's all going back together well now and the car will be fighting fit for CPoP! After speaking with the organisers I should be running the sprint course too which is really exciting 
(I'm a clubman racer).
As long as the British weather sorts itself out, as ever this should be a great event!
