I am thinking about having some work done on my car in the UK at the end of the month and maybe a service as it works out cheaper than in Guernsey. Does anyone know if a garage will do the work without VAT included in the overall cost, or if not, can I claim the VAT back?
My understanding is that as this is (literally) a service performed in the UK VAT is payable. I guess in theory you could claim the VAT back on the parts used when you export them... happy to be corrected if anyone has been successful.
