Hopefully this will never come to pass. I am hoping that the delay until next year is but a face saving exercise, as the States do not want to be seen to capitulate in one go. If some bBMW i8/P1/918 win on emissions but will be penalised on width....

You would hope so but I was stunned at the arrogance displayed on the Sunday Moan in on the radio this morning... had to turn it off 
Apparently our "behaviours need to be changed". Not sure how me buying a car to go and do track days in France is a behaviour that has f all to do with any of our politicians!

Ah, pleased you used the word 'arrogance' too. You may have seen my press article on Saturday a couple of weeks back when I used this exact word a few times! Probably no surprise that there was no formal response. Gavin St Pier and the 'lady' in question have such an arrogant attitude. I can understand how tax on fuel is an emissions tax but not sure where a tax on first registration stops being an emissions tax and becomes a wealth tax when you are not using the car day to day.
I think it may have more to do with certain political representatives tying to create their own "legacy"

Tax on fuel used, to me, seems fair to most. This new tax(es) is solely about harvesting more tax under the banner of green/environment. With all this rhetoric about GST and other BS taxes I would far prefer that they added a 1p on the 20p tax band. At least it would be open and transparent and generally equitable!!! But then, I would also like us to approve what they spend it on...!
