Guernsey car enthusiasts coffee meet?
Discussion
We all know Vistas is where the bikers hang out, and what a fine bunch of chaps; some even like cars too!
However there doesn't seem to be an equivalent car venue, Vistas car park is too jammed these days (and the winter salt water!) and nowhere springs to mind.
Requirements:
1.Decent parking, preferably away from normal people (kids, car doors, recycling bins).
2.Fine coffees and teas, perhaps a bacon sandwich (we are mortal after all!), croissantes, pastries and similar.
3.People with nice cars will want to drop in on a fine day, show off their motor, and shoot the breeze.
4.No Kevs, Kevins, or anyone with any name that might lead to the undermining of what should hopefully be a gentlemens (and ladies) forum.
Thoughts, or as there is no such current meeting place, is there a good reason that I am not aware of why there is no such meeting and place?
Across the road maybe? Do they do coffees etc in the morning??
Aside from generally meeting up on a dry and sunny Sunday (or is Saturday better) morning, maybe the presence of an everyday car* enthusiasts group might not be a bad thing, particularly given the ongoing persecution of all things social motoring!!!

- Everyday car, definition: Likely 6 cylinders and up, min 275 bhp, max 1200 bhp (for you closet Veyron owners), special dispensation granted for cool cars that fall outside of these parameters

Hotel Jerbourg? It has as nice coffee and cakes as well as a big car park, not sure about bacon butties though!
I think Paul Scambler is a bit of a petrolhead as well. The Porsche Club normally has it's Xmas lunch there.
Sounds like a good option. Takes it away from the riff raff too I think Paul Scambler is a bit of a petrolhead as well. The Porsche Club normally has it's Xmas lunch there.
I don't think I have ever been there. Odd given 36 years total in Guernsey!
Do you you know if there are any other clubs aside from the Porsche owners locally?

Well Guernsey seem to be taking the lead on this Channel Islands section. Think everyone so far commenting is from Gsy.
I wish it was easier (less costly) to just jump on the condor and join in.
A similar thing over here in jersey would be nice.
Maybe we can go large one day and take over Condor for a day I wish it was easier (less costly) to just jump on the condor and join in.

Seems Firebox7 on the welcome thread is also a Jerseyman.
Channel Island does seem slow gathering momentum. I feel a bit embarrassed my handle features so often but as I pushed for this section I feel duty bound to help it on its way. Oh, and cos I love cars!
Not sure if you've ever looked at it but if you choose "directory" from the members drop down you'll see a members map option on the left hand side. This allows you to see a list of members near you on Google maps
This only works if the PH'er has added their postcode location onto their profile, so isn't a complete picture. However it should give you a starter for 10 if you're looking for lurkers on either island!
Could be worth dropping them a PM to let them know of the existence of this forum group..

Good thought! Bit easier getting cars to and from. Is their car park improved recently?
Not sure. They have been doing some work recently but not sure if that included the car park. But has always seemed fine to me. The overflow part is also fine, didn't cause any problems for my DB9 last time. Shewie said:
Have parked there recently and it was fine... Happy to try their coffee!
Looks like it will be a small round of coffee!!!Let's see if we can draw a few more people in and go for it! The only downside maybe is if we pick a morning and the weather is pants we'll all likely turn up in the daily drive rather than the shiney motor that lives in the dry

Haha, speak for yourself. Mine is my daily drive! Unfortunately weekend mornings are tricky for me. Let's see if we can draw a few more people in and go for it! Sorry guys. I realised it was short notice but wanted to ensure good weather. Let's hope for an extended dry period so we can plan a few days in advance. Be good to catch up pre Xmas.
Plod stopped me for speeding while overtaking south of L'eree Hotel. A cunning little spot, him tucked in the corner just before the little left / right (heading south). Xmas early for me as I was given a polite and professional warning and sent on my way. Never seen plod there before, or heard of it. If like some people (!) you might occasionally speed down there please beware. So, the driver in my way whom I overtook, ironically probably saved me a booking (as I may, just may, have been doing more than 48 otherwise!)...
Was a useful and stark reminder! And I genuinely consider myself observant....

I've seen plod there before, although usually the same little chicane but going North and hidden from view until you are already past them. I've only been stopped twice over here, and both times let off with a warning even though both times I was told I was doing over 50. And sorry I missed the meet, but was off island.
