Ditch the range extender and you could increase the battery size to 100kWh at the same (or lower weight).
Re. Chinese cars: I spent a day driving the Zeekr 7x. Demonstrators are sold for a few thousands more than the list price of a well-specced Renault Scenic. Three times the power and charging speed, four seconds faster 0-60...

Pictures do explain rather better.
It's heavy for sure but it is a really a camper van too and they're not light.
A FWD diesel base spec California is 60k (& that is the one without a kitchen amd little more than a minibus with a pop top).
AWD, 250 mile likely WLTP electric range and 1000 with the range extender, 415bhp and being sold in it's home market for corsa money..
