My daughter has just passed her test, actually went the manual route, she's 23 so insurance costs should not be so bad. We currently have an old Panda which she really does not get on with and we use it for day to day around town tasks ad thinking of changing it anyway. We would mostly be using it for local town use, we do have a couple of dogs medium and small and I can get free charging from work but a 50 mile round trip.

Thinking Mii, E-Up and City go but maybe I wouldn't make most use of free charging and also not ideal for the dogs but would be great around town, what other suggestion.

If you can charge at home and don't normally use the car for commuting it will almost certainly not be worth taking the free charging into consideration.

Budget ideally less than £15 but I do have too many cars so if I did get rid of one I could increase budget but then I think it will then take a hit on insurance.

A dodge that i used with my son and that saved quite a bit of money. I added myself on his insurance as a second driver (me). That saved over £200 a year.

I've just bought an absolutely mint i3s with 16k miles for less than that so there are plenty of options. (Presuming you missed the K off)

If mileage is relatively low then you can charge at home with a normal domestic plug. Even with the increase in energy charges it's still cheap as chips.

Loads of choice between £10-15k. Fiat 500e, Peugeot e208, Corsa E, BMW i3, Honda E etc.

Dependent on use you might well find charging from a 3-pin plug granny charger is more than enough for your needs if practical. Should add an easy 10miles of range for every hour of charging.

I know EV prices/values on the market have taken a bit of battering but that budget is really not realistic! tongue out

There are some very good deals currently on the Dacia Spring, ever s slightly bigger than the Up/Citago. Ideal as a town runabout and peace of mind with regards to reliability etc. as will be brand new. Some will point out the low NCAP, but a lot of this is down to lack of active safety. It will almost certainly be at least as safe as an old Up! And safer than a Panda.

The Leapmotor T03 is better, cheaper and safer, if you can get over the Chinese ownership, it's made by Stellantis in the old Polish Fiat 500 plant.

I guess better is more difficult to quantify, but it does look like it could be a great city car. They are more expensive than the Spring by about a grand, not sure if there any special deals.

hehe sorry but that tickled a bone for me.

On topic, I've always had a soft spot for the Zoe. I think it's a good looking little car that has aged really well.

For the Leaf, I remember AutoTrader has some fun videos on there with some genuine interesting bits on buying such a car second hand:
