So a friend has a Cupra Born that has started to switch into neutral and bring up a display message about the Electronic Stability Control which disappears after a second. This happens when driving and obviously means you have to toggle the car back into drive. Probably happens once a week. Power steering, brakes, etc still work but unless you notice the instrument cluster you wouldn't know it had happened and was in neutral. Which could be an issue if trying to accelerate across a roundabout for example.

Anyone heard of similar? There are no error messages or EMLs on the screen once it's happened. Have checked the Cupra Born forum but to no avail.

Not heard of or experienced that in either our Born or ID3. Goes without saying that I'd be getting that into the dealer ASAP - hunch would be it's more likely to do with the interior drive selector switch having a dodgy connection rather than anything motor controller related.

No idea if its relevant to the born and id3, but I've seen very odd behaviour in vag cars re stability control and abs which has turned out to be the rear wheel bearings.
the wheel speed sensor reluctor rings are on the back of the wheel bearing and there is a cover which corrodes and touches the bearing, damaging the reluctor ring and causing issues.

Nope, never had it in my id3 only but have driven this Cupra a couple of times as on their insurance and it happened, honestly I'd not have noticed until I tried to accelerate!

Thanks, interesting idea. Doesn't seem to be weather related and my initial thoughts would have been the selector switch but can't see that triggering the ESC warning (you can flip into neutral when driving if wanted, I mean you wouldn't want to but it's possible) so maybe it's an issue with the sensors. I'll tell them to book it in with dealer
