Polestar 2 alternatives?
Discussion
Sorry for another 'what car, help' type thread, but here it is anyway and any suggestions gratefully considered.
Had a Tesla and currently got a Taycan, and looking to order a new EV for work, hopefully for delivery in the next 4-8 weeks - and it's that bit which may catch me out I suspect. Probably just a lease and I like the look of the Polestar 2 long range due to positive reviews, size (it's not enormous), and well, it's long range - the latter two of which are the two main considerations - I hate the size and pitiful range of the Taycan and I'm not looking for another.
There don't seem to be any suitable cars on the Polestar website for delivery before May so I'm wondering what I might be overlooking, hence the request for help!
Oh, and no to Tesla.

Oh, and no to Tesla.
Enyaq is pretty similar size to the Polestar, and the XC40 is a bit shorter but more upright seating so plenty of space. At 6'2" I found the Polestar comfortable but a little cramped whereas the XC 40 had plenty of space. Not driven the Enyaq but felt quite spacious just sitting in one.

Our of interest what sort of mi/kWh you getting from the Taycan? My enyaq is pretty rubbish compared to my mg4 but it's a much bigger car.Had a Tesla and currently got a Taycan, and looking to order a new EV for work, hopefully for delivery in the next 4-8 weeks - and it's that bit which may catch me out I suspect. Problem most full size EV are really wide like the Taycan (although the Taycan is particularly long).
I was going to suggest polestar 4 but it's huge.
Ford explorer looks a bit skinnier as does the Renault scenic.
According to autotrader the lotus emeya is a good also quite slim but I struggle to believe that

How about the Polestar 4? It's shorter than the Taycan but a little wider and taller. The space inside is excellent and plenty of cargo space. I found the Taycan to be big on the outside and small on the inside. They have some 4's on the website for "immediate" deilvery.
They have a few teething software issues but nothing deal breaking and an OTA update coming out soon. I have the dual motor and it's very quick indeed, in case that's important..

I believe the XC40 is on the same platform as the Polestar, and they share most of the same battery and motor tech as they're both under the Geely umbrella.
I have a twin motor, the WLTP range is 335 miles, real world 220 winter 260 summer. It's a good, practical size, my other half likes the higher crossover/SUV driving position and the boot has been big enough for anything I've needed. I think the Polestar is probably a little more upmarket, although they do share a lot of internal parts and I've never really found the Volvo lacking.

The Polestar 4 shares the Zeekra1's platform which is called the SEA whereas the Volvo is on the CMA platform. I had a quick look inside the Volvo EX30 the other day and the switch gear is the same, so I'm sure there's plenty of cost saving crossovers.I have a twin motor, the WLTP range is 335 miles, real world 220 winter 260 summer. Before I purchased my Polestar 2 I looked at.
Ford Mustang Mach e - really liked it but a friend works for Ford and he said they have issues
BMW I4 - really liked it but the spec I wanted was very expensive and a 6 month wait for it to be built
Skoda Enyaq - really liked it, felt like the nicest place to travel and the spec on the L&K was lovely but not very fast and a 6 month wait for it to be built
Audi Q4 - Didn't really like the interior, to much piano black plastic
Kia EV6 - Didn't really like the interior, it felt a bit cheap
Tesla Model Y - Jiggly hard suspension and it had everything in the central screen which I found really annoying
Volvo XC40/C40 - Not quite long enough for some of the equipment I carry for work (but really nice)
In the end the Polestar had a nice, traditional car like interior and I managed to get a really good deal on a fast, high spec one delivered in a couple of weeks so went with it. Only real issue Ive found is there's limited space for my left knee and I have to drive without shoes to stretch my legs out as the pedals are close together other than that I am very happy with it.

Yes, there would be plenty of room within the cabin if they simple shaped the centre console better. Has a driver speed display in front of you too, rather than a disco ilight n the centre console.Ford Mustang Mach e - really liked it but a friend works for Ford and he said they have issues

Thank you everyone for taking the time to give your opinions and make suggestions, all very much appreciated and some cars that I wouldn't otherwise have thought of. I spent the weekend deciding, looking at cars, and finally making a decision. BMW i4 ordered in the end as found one with the basics that I wanted in stock.

They've changed the suspension (and other things) on the current Tesla Model 3 and the new incoming Model Y... so whatever you knew of the previous ones, the new one is very different.
This probably remains a decent suggestion if looked at purely objectively, however, subjectively I can't support his Muskiness so Tesla was never an option for me. Gassing Station | EV and Alternative Fuels | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
