MK8 Golf GTE - Intelligent Octopus Go
Discussion
Do you really need Intelligent Octopus Go? This works well for full EVs with larger batteries and maximises the period you can charge at ~7p/kWh.
However, Octopus Go (the non intelligent version!) provide something like 5 hours of cheap juice from (I think) 00:30 each day. Given the small size of the battery in your GTE, you should be able to charge the battery to 100% using either a granny cable or a home wall box during that time.
If you’re using a granny cable, I think you should be able to schedule charging times in the car to fit with the cheaper unit cost window.
If you’ve got a charger with an app, you should be able to set the charging window there, without the need to purchase any add ons or subscriptions from VW.
