Here are some notes on fitting F3x 3series seats into an I3.

The F30 3 series seats are a straight swap into the I3, the electrics under the seats just swap over. Just make sure the car is OFF first and there will be no errors, recoding, reregistering required.

My car's leather is the dark "water company" brown, so I had planned to fit light coloured seats and re-dye to match. But when I had a trial seat fitted, I realised that I'd need to repaint lots of plastic parts to match. So in the end I went for black.

The F31 2 door would have the tilt mech in the seat, but mine are from the F30 and it is missing. Kids get in the back fine, but for adults, I need to flip it forward using the recline mech.

The side bolsters on the M sport seats would need an additional feed to be taken from the seat heater supply to power the pump. I haven't done it as neither of us need to adjust them anyway.

Buying is real hassle as some of the used seats are really rough. I had one pair that looked fine, but as was cleaning them up I just couldn't get rid of the smell of smoke, so I returned them. (quite a hassle and long drive!)

I'm really pleased with the swap, as the original seats were for wider bodies than either of us are!

I'm keeping the car, if I won the lottery, I'd get the leather matched, but no one has actually noticed there's a mis match yet.

Looks good, do you have any photos of how it originally looked?

I did similar for my wife when the kids were young - she had light grey cloth seats in an MPV and I got fed up of trying to keep them clean. Bought a full leather interior from a scrap yard and swapped them over, looked so much better.
