I'm on holiday at a haven park. 5 x 22kw AC points available. Well they would be if 3 of the cars that completed charging yesterday would ducking move! There's a constant turnover of 2 cars charging. Most cars are 11kw AC like mine so will take a good few hours. Grr, bet they're first to moan about being iced as well.

It's annoying. I don't know why places like this don't have a system like CharegPoint where you get charged £2/h when your car stops drawing power. This tends to prevent charge hogging.

Yeah that would work well. That should be a standard thing across all charging companies

Probably not in this case, but there are situations where you would want to leave your car on charge but won't necessarily be back when it finishes.

I think it would be helpful if (a) chargers were spaced out and (b) cables unlocked automatically when charging completed.

That way you could park up next to the fully charged EV and start using the charger yourself, meanwhile the owner could still come back to collect their car when convenient to them.

Obviously only any good where there's a surplus of available parking space, but then any situation where cars are being left parked (as opposed to charging) requires that.

Rather than moan on an internet forum, send a formal complaint to haven customer services and tell them how to improve the situation so that this kind of behaviour by other guests doesn't happen again.

I think there's definitely a case for not having additional charges for keeping your car plugged in e.g. at a hotel overnight. But at certain locations, where the whole thing needs to be shared, it's not right to hog chargers because you can't be bothered to be courteous.

Every modern EV lets its owner know when it has finished charging. So these people really are selfish s. They just don't care.

In case I miss the notification on my 'phone, I have a label next to the charge port on my car with my 'phone number on it. I'd be ashamed if somebody ever had to call me.

If they're on holiday, maybe they're too drunk to move it.

I suspect its the new car issue and why I think car charging stations is a better idea than these road side charging points.

Not all modern EVs do. My 2021 MG5 doesn't have any sort of phone app.

Nor pretty much anything from the Stellantis group as although they do have an App, it’s so unfit for purpose it’s not even funny.

Still, no excuse in my book.

Quite. Even without an app it’s not hard to wait with the car until it can give you an ETA for charging completion, and then return somewhere close to that time. That must add 30s tops to being able to walk away.

Do chargers only have one outlet?

e.g. With Stations, if you can physically reach the alternate hose then it's potentially possible to pump.

Perhaps the charger should be configured with a ‘siphon’ mode. Once the vehicle is charged, if it’s not moved, it ought to start sucking the green stuff right back out…Put the onus squarely on the hard of thinking….

There are always ICE cars parked in the EV charging points at Sainsbury when we go there.

I don't condine drink driving... But if I'd had a few beers and was on private property, not the public highway, I'd have no issues carefully moving my car from the charge bay.

Surely that would be ‘in a public place’ ?
