I have a trip next week where I will need to recharge my Merc EQB when I get there and there is a suite of Tesla chargers very close to where I'm staying.
I have downloaded the Tesla app and tried to add my car using the VIN number but it has rejected it as it's a company (leased) car.
Do I have to actually add the vehicle or can I just add payment details and just turn up and charge via the app?

Instructions here - https://www.tesla.com/en_gb/support/supercharging-...

You only add a VIN if it is a Tesla. Note - not all Tesla chargers support non-Tesla vehicles.

What site is it?

If it's a V4 then contactless will work fine

The site is at Darts farm, Topsham Devon.

I have added payment details to the app now so should be covered either way

If you can see it in the Tesla app (with no Tesla registered) then you can use it.
I rarely use public chargers in my Skoda Enyaq, but when I do I only use Tesla ones.
My ABRP nav only looks for them, no others.

Its different here, but I suspect the actual process might be the same.

Now that you are registered, you might have to use the app to start the charging. Plug it in and wait to see if it negotiates and starts charging. It might not, and if thats the case, bring up the app, search for the location you are at and then tell it you are trying to charge - tell it which station and wait a few secs. It should trigger the charger to start and complete the negotiation.

Overall its 5-10 seconds which seems like minutes while you being judged by Tesla drivers

hehe

But its pretty simple from there. You can stop the charging via the app and it will then bill the card on the account. Its supposed to work automatically on v3 and v4 chargers, but for some reason some people have a lot of success others not so much. I haven't but other people on the Facebook forums for the Mach-e say they just plug and go and it gets charged to their Ford account and dont need the Tesla app at all. Suspect that this level of integration isnt available in the UK though.

Overall, pretty seamless exercise and I didnt see any crippling of the charge rates etc. Neat.

Easy enough when i’ve used.
Plug it in, select the charger number on the app, never fails.
Blocks £20 on the cc, that sorts itself out, no problem.
Enyaq charger connection is on the ‘wrong’ side. The older chargers with the short cable, means I block 2 bays (have been quiet so ok).
