Requested delivery on a 25 Plate as I am in no rush and have gone for a Hyundai Kona N Line 65kwh. Will be having an untethered Ohme home charger installed as I live on a busy road and need to reverse in so I will be buying a longer charging lead that supplied with the car so it will reach the length of the car.

It will be a massive change for me as up until now I have driven a Zafira when I had young kids and needed the 7 seats and big boot space and then more recently I have a Diesel Venga, which I love and would keep were it not for the fact I live right on the edge of the ULEZ zone. My Venga has virtually zero tech, I can receive a phone call only but can only do last number phoned. I've never had a car with Nav let alone all the other things this car will bing and bong about.

I'm equal parts excited and nervous!

As a recent EV convert, I'm loving it and I hope you enjoy the same positive experiences that I'm having. Nice choice of EV, be sure to keep us posted on your experiences on the lead up to and after delivery.

I too have an untethered Ohme (epod) as I needed a longer lead, if you haven't already got one I recommend ev-extras.com for your lead. That's who I used and it was a great service and great product.

Congrats.

I burst my EV cherry last month and also have an Ohme charger. Tethered as I can do with the supplied 5m lead.
There is a 8m cable option as well if that may work better for you?

One thing that I didn't appreciate was the time taken to move energy supplier... if you are planning to move, condier this sooner rather than later!

Who did you move to?

We were with Scottish Power and moved to Octopus and the whole process was a breeze, the only initial issue we had was the address wasn't listed - possibly as its a new build - but I emailed them (Octopus) a few details and the next day it was listed on their website. Switching tariff to IOG was even easier and all done with in a few minutes when setting up the charger. Customer service with Octopus is some of the best I've known.

I need to look into what I currently pay and see if I can do better but with Octopus right now, I think. I'm not actually sure!

Welcome to the EV world, I joined a couple of months ago and it's been easier than I thought it would be.

It only took a few days to swap from Sainsbury's to Octopus for us, the main drag was the 4 week wait to get the charger installed. A combination of car arriving far faster than expected and the charger installation company cancelling a few times left me with a hearty bill for charging on the road.

Ohlme have a tethered charger with a 8m cable if it helps? I only say that as it's easier to curl the cable up and leave it than curling it up and packing it away every time you leave home.

How many miles are you going to do in your EV? we went with Octopus intelligent as I charge my EV every day as I cover quite big milage but my wife's car only does 50 miles a week so gets charged once a month at home. If we only had her car we would probably use a 3 pin plug charger as we could leave it on charge all weekend without any issues.

The only problem now is your 6 month wait for delivery.........

My Smart meter that was installed last year decided it wasn't SMART.
They offered another meter and thtt was installed after which I moved to Octoput - but they said it can take 4 weeks to get the Smart meter registered.
During that time I was not able to move to Intelligent so had to charge on teh regular tariff.

It could well be that I was unfortunate and I should have stayed with OVO till the smart meter was working.

Overall, it was just a consideration that I hadn't considered when I ordered the EV, thinking that all would be fine.
By the looks of it, this is not a concern for you if the Smart meter is working and you have access to chaper overnight prices.

It took 18 months and 3 smart meters before they got mine working. They finally admitted they had been installing faulty meters after giving me all sorts of excuses.

I could have the car far sooner if I want, but due to many reasons I do not want it till March next year.

I may of course change my mind but for now that is what I am working towards.
