I dont really see what this offers over an Explorer tbh. Ford would have been better making a smaller EV (ID3 sized) and calling it the Escort or something.

And Ford wonder why they’re struggling.

They might as well pull this from the range now. Nobody with any self awareness is going to buy a VW underpinned Polestar 2 lookalike with a cynical 'Capri' badge stuck on it.

This is embarrassing for Ford. What an abortion.

Thing is, the Explorer looks to actually be a decent car, but they have gone the wrong way from it.

Puma - Small SUV with a "face" that reminds me of the chubby kid from The Goonies.
Mustang - Electric SUV.
Capri - Electric crossover.

Sigh.

If they made a Kuga sized (or even slightly bigger) Explorer they'd be on to a winner.

This Capri is in no-man's land.

Kuga and Explorer are near enough the same externally, apart from Kuga being 6" longer - is there much difference internally? Explorer seems to have bigger boot capacity.

Ford has just reported another quarter of heavy losses in its EV division. No surprise judging by comments on their products.

Well ok. They need a medium/large EV SUV then. Styled on the Explorer, which looks great imo.

There are lots of reviews of the 'Capri' on YT now. Most seem to say much the same thing- it's just an Explorer (which is just a VW) in a different body with ludicrous marketing trying to convince you that it is a Capri, when it isn't. Too big, too expensive, too 'meh'.

Ford are doomed.

Fifty six grand for top spec man. Fifty six.

I hate this reuse of historic names when the cars have nothing in common. At least the new Puma has some nods to the beloved model. This is just awful. A generic blob with what appears to be rubbish driving dynamics and an unergonomic interior. What a waste.

Shocking management of models by Ford. New companies talk about legacy manufacturers not moving with the times but even when they do they make such a hash of it you wonder if they know anything about cars at all. To be slightly fair to them, they are not the only ones but they seem so bad at this that it's almost impressive how bad it is.

A mystery to me but I don't run a multi billion dollar business biggrin

Why call that big EV blob a Mustang. I literally shudder every time I see the Pony on the bonnet of one.

I can't see the sort of people that want an actual Mustang buying one and the people it does appeal to, won't know what a Mustang is.

Like the traffic warden that gave my 5.0 GT a ticket with Capri written in the car model box laugh

I got off that one biggrin

The electric Explorer does seem to be liked, and as the old Explorer was an SUV, it looks the part.

But what on Earth! were they thinking regarding the Capri name....

Its the Capri Martin Shaw or Gary Webster would drive, but not the one Ray Doyle or Terry McCann would.

Utterly convinced that Ford are slowly exiting Europe, probably wishing for a sales miracle along the way. It’s like they have given up but as I understand it their European business isn’t particularly lucrative as ze Germans and Stellantis have it pretty much sewn up.

I'm thinking the same - Ford haven't really tried, what with buying in the VW ID platform. And VW realise that item is poor when compared to many rivals.
If Ford don't announce a new in-house 'skateboard', the only logical conclusion is that they're pulling out.

Costing around £50k is just about all it has in common with a Mk1 Capri biggrin
