have an Audi E-tron 50 71 kWh battery (64.7kwh usable)
i am on Octopus Intelligent go tariff
with Ohme home pro charger

so when I charge my Ohme pro charger says I have used the correct amount to change my car, but octopus say its double

e.g between 02.00-03.00 hours Ohme says i used 7.2kWh, Octopus says 15.019kWh.
my car charged from 39% to 80% over night Ohme says i used 30kWh Octopus says 60kWh

my normal non charging overnight consumption is 0.58 kWh per hour
i have done a creep test and nothing happens
it appears its only when i am charging i can see the issue

any ideas what to try ? or what could be causing the issue

I expect it's a bug in the Octopus app. If your bill is correct, I'd just ignore the app. You'd expect the bill to be a little higher... but not double.

May be worth querying this with Octopus. Seems like your meter is billing twice as much as usage. There may have been a mistake made during the installation of the charger.

That's a bummer, good luck with sorting with Octopus.

You might be able to measure the current at your meter with a clamp ammeter?

You could do a rough check of the meter with a couple of fan heaters or something?

Perhaps you have a 'power factor problem' and your meter is billing you for VAs not watts?
(This could be due to the current and voltage being out of phase, maybe a fault in the car charger?)

Or you have a harmonic problem? Again this could be a charger fault if everything else bills correctly?

I tend to regard this kind of fault as serious, potential precursor to the smoke getting out!

I had a water bill once which was double the usual amount, a leak I thought.

Looking at the bill closer however the water used was 24m3 on the first page, a typical amount looking at previous builds, but then 48m3 in the calculation for bill on the second page.

Only took 3 calls for them to manage to correct it.

Well getting spoke to a really helpful lady at octopus and she could see things did not add up straight away
Sent it off to another technical area and came back to me a few hours later
There was a firmware update to my smart meter I don’t know when and that has caused it so over read and it’s a know issue and the DCC and l&g are aware of it
So hope it’s going to be sorted soon
