I'm about to get an EV charger installed, and the installer company have told me about the Government EV charger grant scheme.

However I don't think I'm eligible. Since I retired, I do some odd days of consultancy on a self-employed (sole trader) basis, which is notified to HMRC via my personal tax return. The installer thought I would be able to get the grant.

However upon checking the GOV website, it states that you need to provide:

- Confirmation that the property is listed as your place of business with Companies House (I'm not LTD/PLC and not registered with Companies House)

- A letter showing that the house is recorded on your business (non-domestic) rate bill issued to you by your local council or Land and Property Services (I haven't notified the LA about my work, not aware that I need to)

- a VAT reg number (I'm not VAT reg as the work is occasional and part time and I don't hit the threshold - no benefit to me in being VAT reg, only cost!)

I'm sure I know the answer - I'm not eligible - but just wanted to sanity-check in case anyone knows different?

You will not be eligible with what you're saying. There's plenty of checkers online but if you're home is not registered as your place of business and getting the tax cuts then I highly doubt you'll be able to get the grant.
