This list was my shortlist too. I test drove them all, researched pros and cons. Read and watched as many reviews as were available
In terms of test drive, I rated them as i4 first, Polestar 2 2nd and Tesla Model 3 3rd.
Ulitmately, went with the results of the test drive but chose an i4M50 as at that time the difference between a well specced i4 40 MSport and the i4M50 was not huge.

Very hard to say as there will be very few (if any) on here who have owned all of the ones you have selected.I have a Tesla 3LR which I bought new 4 years ago. 50,000 trouble free miles and I am delighted with it - the easiest and cheapest to run car I've ever had.
Initially I was swayed by the Tesla charging network - but in practice, I've used superchargers about 5 times in 4 years. You might need to charge on the road, in which case the choice might need more research. In my case home charging covers everything.
Is the Tesla plug ugly? I am not sure, I've grown to like most views (apart from head on)... and I've owned some very beautiful cars over the years.
I have other cars, but the Tesla is my 'go to' car for 90% of all journeys. Super reliable, quick, cheap... I find it hard to fault to be honest.

Research all of them, test them all and decide for yourself.
I have test drove all of the, probably the best was the Polestar 2 although very close by the Tesla. I'm used to a BMW as I've had a 530 and a 330eResearch all of them, test them all and decide for yourself.
Although I think really it was designed to be in the M50 spec, the chassis is improved which helps nullify the weight induced roll, and the stupid power figures remove any other semblance of weight in the real world.
I also tested the PS2 and the TM3 but I didn't love the drive of either and the interiors, for me, were just a little spartan.
Needless to say, it's all personal preference and they're all very clearly popular and good quality, well rounded cars.
I ordered a P*2 from a similar choice.
For me the P*2 was the better choice as I could get the LRDM with Performance/Plus/Pilot and leather packs for my allowance. No idea how but they must have a sale on as I couldn’t get near this spec when I started looking a few months ago. I found it to be the most car like with real indicator and wiper stalks and a fairly easy to navigate screen. It also grips and goes really well.
I could get a Tesla 3 LRDM but it would have been white with the black interior, I didn’t have enough in the allowance to choose a colour. I found the suspension a bit crashy and the seats didn’t have height adjustable lumbar support. The screen and no gear selector/indicator/wiper stalks was a bit too far for me this time. Tesla charger network was excellent in the couple of days I had it on loan.
My allowance would only cover the i4 35 which was ok but no where near as fast as the other two. I could also only choose sport or M sport with the standard battleship grey paint. It was a nice car and drove in that excellent ‘ultimate driving machine’ way but there were options I wanted I couldn’t have.
Also looked at the
KIA EV6 but the interior was low rent compared to the other choices.
Mustang Mach E which I really like but a neighbour works for Ford and says they have issues.
Volvo EC/XC40 Also really liked, seats are comfortable and the twin motors grip and go well but preferred the look of the Polestar.
Skoda Enyaq was a 9 month wait
Audi Q4 E Tron was also a 9 month wait

If you had a better choice on the Tesla and it's had the indicator stalks on would have you gone for that then. Others have asked the same question - what is the criteria?I will go out on a limb here though, but I havent driven all of the cars. The BMW will be the better driving experience, though with probably the shortest overall range. But I would say that the German cars charge quickly and consistently, so this is offset.
The Polestar will have great seats, comfortable driving position and a pretty well integrated infotainment system, which if you have an android phone will be great. The Tesla is a VERY good car across the board, but it suffers from a number of issues - the lack of stalks, the overall quality and it is no longer the best riding or driving EV on the market. Its good across many different point, which makes it a great choice. But it is also being caught up, if not passed in a number of other areas.
If you can live with the lack of stalks, spartan interior and no carplay / android auto, the Tesla probably makes a good overall purchase. For me, this is too far. Not that I couldnt learn to adapt, but the question is why? Why should I be forced to use stupid buttons for my indicators, other than because its 'cool' or because it means that Tesla can cheapen out on manufacturing and costs.
Nah, Tesla Model 3 would be out for me for those small and petty reasons. Second hand with the stalks and I would absolutely consider it (even if its not the updated model). Polestar - nice, would look at in detail, but for me it would be the BMW. Better to drive, nicer to sit in and its a very good EV, even if the range isnt quite up to par.
If you havent had an EV before, range is constantly thrown around as an issue. It isnt really. Its accessibility to chargers that is. If you can charge at home (preferably level 2) and dont go on 300 mile trips where you never stop and have to tow a caravan, its likely that you wont have an issue with charging. And even when you do, it will be a case of charging to the minimum you need. You dont charge to full each and every time, just charge to what you need and move on. You will charge more often, but for less time - and if you can charge at home, just stick it on charge a couple of times a week and never think about it again. Its a different way of thinking.

Interesting. I have a Mach-e and a member of a bunch of user groups - yes, there are a few that have issues, but its pretty limited. The big issue is the lack of awareness of how to run an EV. 12v batteries are well known issue across a bunch of EV's. When it goes (or starts to go), it can cause a string of issues that often cause confusion on what is happening. The Mach-e and i3 both have issues where it says that you cant charge the car because of it - which is odd, but I am sure there is a reason. Other than that, its a solid car. Keep up with the updates and most of the teething issues have been ironed out. On the updates specifically, they were some issues in the first few years around the updates and the frequency. They fixed this about 8 months ago and are now rolling out a bunch of updates frequently and fixing some of the niggles it had.
Overall its a very good car and I would recommend one. But, its bigger than you might think. Its not a Tesla Model 3 rival - its closer to the Model Y, if not a little bigger (cant remember).

An i4M50 is certainly a very desirable car but isn't it at a different price point from a Polestar 2 or Tesla Model 3? Not sure about relative discounts or lease deals but based on list price even the performance versions of the latter two are over £10k less than the BMW and in dual motor long range form they're closer to £20k cheaper. That's quite a big difference IMO although I suppose you might recoup much of that come resale time?In terms of test drive, I rated them as i4 first, Polestar 2 2nd and Tesla Model 3 3rd.

Also, my friend has a PS2 and my brother in law a model Y. Both great cars but I would say the Beemer DEFINITELY feels far more premium than either, which of course has £ value in terms for both the driver and the manufacturer. If it's affordable, it's easy to argue it's worth fair bit more money for many drivers - depending on what they value of course.
As an aside, the M50 i4 also has a lot of kit/tech as standard that the lesser powered variants do not - it's actually quite a good value car to it's siblings, by direct comparison. Things like air suspension and adaptive damping make a tangible difference to such a car.
IMO
i4 is best for the interior and physical buttons. The i-drive is still the best for me. I don't like the exterior design too much though. Very good driving dynamics IME.
Polestar has the best exterior design. A very attractive car to my eyes and does a great job of hiding the fact that it's a fairly tall car. Front cabin is nice but I'm not a fan of the single screen. Rear seats are not great.
Tesla has the best running gear of almost everything and their chrging network seems to be brilliant. I just don't like the interior, exterior or touch screen for everything.
None of this is a criticism of what people own but if it were up to me the best car would be a combination of the three. Sadly it doesn't yet exist.
