Volkswagen e-Up experience??
Discussion
Limited chat on PH about this one.. for obvious reasons. But does anyone one have any real life experience of the e-Up?? I'm looking at one of the new battery versions as a general runabout and as a first driving option for a teenager (the insurance looks ok). I can't see anything too negative, other than the limited range, but would be interested to know if anyone has had any dramas / there's stuff to look out for? Thanks!
There's a discussion about the Mii which is essentially the same car here https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...
My MiL has a Mii and i have driven a Citigoe IV and is its nice simple capable car. I own a Citigo 1.0 ICE as well, to me it is the modern embodiment of the classic mini.

We ran a Mii electric for three years.
Wife loved it. Narrow, so ideal for country lanes and city manoeuvring alike.
Plenty of go from standstill, as per all electric cars, certainly felt faster than an equivalent 1.0 city car.
Battery range enough for commuting and local duties.
Not sure if it’s only the Seat ones but it made a few odd noises from the drive train/front end when making low speed parking type full lock manoeuvres.
Would have another one.

Mrs Deuce had a Petrol Up! for a couple of years and we loved that. And then a couple of years ago we had a rental e-Up (say it in a Yorkshire accent) and it was a proper little go-kart
Loved it. Electrification was the only thing that could have made a near perfect city car absolutely perfect, basically free to run, quiet, nippy and a surprisingly decent ride and build quality. Anyone who buys a city car that isn't electric needs mercy shooting quite frankly - the fuel saving alone can pay for monthlies on a used one..
Highly recommended.

Yes, we did some quick "maths" on paying the extra for the electric car, and it was soon pretty obvious that it would almost pay for itself each month (compared with an older petrol version). Plus it comes with a couple of years full manufacture warranty, so there shouldn't be anything too costly about it for a while. Battery also fully covered for another five years. Loved it. Had a few days with the Up.. what a great car. All so simple and much fun, plus really does feel a lot quicker than the performance figures. It’s also incredibly efficient, and did 6.4 miles / kWh on a fair drive back from the VW dealer (without me trying). Suspect it’ll be a keeper.
