I need some help to make a decision on which EV to have as my company car. Options Tesla 3 or BYD Seal. What's everyone's thoughts?

Assuming brand new, I'd go M3, the refresh is a very impressive car, indicator stalks excepted.

Yes brand new models, yeah was a bit strange with no stalks but I suppose I'd get used to it.

A Chinese EV or an American EV made in China, hmmmmm.

Serious question, where do you get BYD's serviced/repaired in the UK?

edit: To answer my own question:

https://www.byd.com/uk/find-store

I'd go Tesla 100%.

I had this same choice recently between the Model 3 standard range and Seal standard range. I went Model 3, which was then cancelled a week later by our fleet department due to a price increase. I could have ordered again, but the AWD Seal performance had then appeared on the list, so I opted for that instead.

I’d recommend having at least a sit in a Seal if you can track one down local enough, nice place to be and full of spec.

I have sat in one and taken it out, but it seems like from the reviews that it not quite ready to compete with the Model 3, if you couldn't have the AWD would have you gone back to the Tesla.

Yes I’m fairly certain I’d have reordered the Tesla. Only reason for going for the AWD Seal is I had a Dual Motor Polestar previously, so thought I’d regret not opting for the all year round traction. Not that I ever actually used the power of the Polestar, ha!

Other option was the BMW I4 which was another close contender, have you had a look at those?

All the reviews I've watched have said the BYD has beaten the old model 3 but the new one is far superior. The i4 wasn't on the list.

Colleague of mine swapped her TM3 for an i4, had a bit of a rant of liking the car (preferring the looks) but found most software stuff infuriating compared to the Tesla.
I just don't know If I could get on with the lack of an indicator stalk though, baffling move imho.

I've just replaced a 2020 Tesla Model 3, with a new one... in terms of driving feel, it's chalk and cheese... the new one feels like a completely different car (in a good way). As such be careful of any opinions of the old car, as while sure, there are some things retained, the changes to the chassis are vast. My missus having tried the new one, and having done many miles driving the old one described the change as like going from a Dacia to a Mercedes. She'd also have ordered one that day if she'd not got over a year to go on her current lease.

Tesla is the better and more complete car. The technology works, the charger network is excellent and they are proven to be reliable too. However, as you say, no indicator stalks and some of the more recent decisions make little sense other than for cost cutting - which is weird as they are supposed to be at the mid to premium end of the market!

For me, CarPlay / Android Auto, wiper and indicator stalks and a few simple buttons on the steering wheel close the deal for me, which is why I wouldnt get the latest Model 3. Shame, but its their design choice and it doesnt match for me. I get that you will 'learn' to use them, but every other car I have doesnt have this and I think its stupid.

BYD instead? From what I have seen, its a worthy car, but still not quite as polished as competitors. But at the right price and for the right use case, it might be a winner. Your call. Personally, no Tesla Model 3 or BYD, I would look somewhere else. But that is me.

I have driven the Polstar 2 a few times and it a nice car without the Tesla design choice nuisances. Polstars have buttons for glove boxes and electric boot with button makes so much sense.

While Tesla really have shot themselves in the foot with the Cyber truck, from Tec leader to Clown car in one easy move. Sadly the clown features are rubbing of on other models.

For me the lack of HUD would be a biggie and I don’t mean a little add on dash thingy but full line of sight. Each to their own but having used it extensively over the years I would go back.

nothing to do with this topic but had a C300 hire car last week with full HUD. I wear red tinted sunglasses (cos they are cool init ) and i needed after a stop i noticed the HUD was turned off. No idea how it had happened but nvm, carry on. Next morning without glasses HUD back on.

It was the red lenses blocking/filtering out the HUD and i could see nothing.

Physics; who knew!
