Ford Capri? More like 100E
Discussion
The Capri name is relatively useless in terms of what a Capri was - these days people don't want that sort of car... But the name is still recognisable so it shouldn't take a genius to understand the commercial sense of re-using it for something different.
The fact that some people find it a little controversial guarantees that more people are talking about the upcoming car.
At the core of this change, and of what people want, is the SUV. For years I hated these silly cars, they were just ruined versions of the normal car they were based upon and offered no additional practicality or off road function, and worse handling! But now, with the EV skateboard layout, that's all changed and now SUV's make tremendous sense.

Ford don't want to spend any money on their ev range because they lose money therefore surely this a sensible move for them. built on a 5 or 6 year old platform so there's minimal investment required. bland inoffensive styling. Top if off by using a controversial name to get it some attention, job done, people now know about the car.
personally i dislike the sheer amount of bloated overly heavy suvs that are being released but clearly there's a market for them.

Have to disagree with 'people do not wany that sort of car' Oh yes some of us do, appreciating the smaller, more nimble, coupe style. We have both a PHEV and an E46 3litre coupe. And yes we prefer the 20 year old BMW, its responsive and you actually feel what the car is doing through the wheel and seat of pants. We don't all want Chelsea tractors. (Plus I've never grown up!)
Cheers

I used to have MkII CRX Vtec, I miss it for it's go-kart like chuck-ability. I'd be very happy to have such a fun weekend car alongside a decent SUV EV now. In fact I'm semi on the lookout for something basic, fun and ICE to keep long term as an investment. Possibly a 2003 mini S cooper works, lovely supercharger whine
