I have recently got an EV6. I cam currently in rented (divorce) and so getting a dedicated home charger probably isnt an option right now. I know there are grants but that still leaves abut £400 to pay and I might move out in less that a year.

I am a bit confused about using a 3 pin charger in the garage. Look at the pictures below, the feed comes in and there is a metal box, the oranges wires go to lights or to a few 4 ways extensions. Then there is the commercial plug, which says its rated to 32A. The panel though seems to only have a 16amp thingy in it for the garage.

I am guessing plugging a 3 pin charger into one of the extensions is a bad idea? Can I get anything to plug into the commercial type plug?

Plenty of chargers available with commando plugs rather than 3 pin. Just make sure you get one that you can configure the max current so you can limit it to 16 or less.

Bit more complicated if you want to run intelligent go or similar - as i dont think kia are directly supported so you need a charger to be supported.

just make sure that the weight of cable/unit cant pull the plug out - install a shelf or bracket

Cool thanks. I'm with Ovo and they have recently added Kia as a direct connection. I've connected the Kia Connect app to the Charge Anytime app and that's all set up.

That electrical installation looks very DIY.

Not sure I would want to plug my car in there

The property is a rental and always has been so would assume this would have been done with permission of the landlord who would have wanted it done professionally. It had an Landlords Electrical safety inspection 2 years ago so wouldnt that have picked it up if it looked dodgy? Of course it could have been done after that but as I understand the previous tennant was here for years and ran a business from here using lots of power tools so I would guess it was done a long time ago.

Ill check with the lettings agent to see if they have a record of it being done

Kia/Hyundai come and go from being supported for Intelligent, and currently they are not for new customers.
