Procrastinating over which SUV EV to go for under the work salary sacrifice scheme. Not huge amounts in it cost wise between a few options.

I have an iX (14 months now) and had an iPace hse for three years. The iPace was lovely to drive but range not great (bro in law has a newer one and the range he gets is 10% better which is down to improvement in the car) and charging speeds a bit on the low side at 90-95kW. My iX charges at up to 195 which makes a big difference though the improvement in the charger network since my ipace went back would make journeys much easier in it than my experience.
The iX50 with air suspension and rear wheel steer is much nicer than the iX40. I’d have my iX50 over the ipace but maybe an iPace over the iX40. The iX3 is only rear wheel drive which would put me off. Audis do nothing for me
Between the ipace and the iX I had a Volvo xc90 phev which had the front wheels driven by ice and rears by electric which I really didn’t get on with. Don’t know if it’s the same in the xc60, but the electric motors are now a lot more powerful and electric range much better. I didn’t get on with the xc90 very well. Phev is lousy compared to full EV. Full permanent properly balance 4wd is hugely better than Volvo’s irritating system (my wife has a Volvo c40 which is pretty nice to drive albeit nowhere near an iPace

Ipace is getting a bit old now, relatively slow rapid charging speed and range is a little down, but was good at launch, it’s just got lots of younger competitors
IX3, you hear people moan about it being a shared chassis as the ice versions, but it’s a cracking car and relstiveky efficient, however it’s also about to be updated
Model Y is predictable but having just had one for two years, it does lack refinement in the ride, sound insulation, etc. Also strong rumours an update is coming with China production being slowed (or it might just be they’ve enough fields full of unsold stock). Its the Ford mondeo of the company car world now.
Audi, unless they’ve done something have been quite thirsty but like bmw they’re moving on to their second o4 third iteration of EV design and so improved a lot
BMW iX is head and shoulders above all of them also boot space isn’t as big as you’d imagine as lots is given over to the cabin, but could well be much more expensive

The new Q6 is supposed to move things on considerably. Quoted range is 338-381 miles from a 95kw battery, which like all manufacturers, is unlikely! It will support charging speeds of up to 270kw l, so 20-80% charges can be completed in as little as 21 minutes.
Thanks all. We are coming from a Skoda Kodiaq which is a big beast really, don’t need quite as much space but do like the raised position etc.
We live semi rural so the lack of AWD in the iX3 does put me off a bit and would need to at least factor in some winter tyres.
Ipace seems to win lots of votes on the driving experience, but the older tech, real world range and charging speed do put off a little.
I quite like the iX but probably a little too big and budget would only just stretch to the 40x engine and standard sport spec without any extras.
Q6 looks out of price range, but not yet available on the work scheme (tusker)

Having just bought a PHEV XC90, and owning an EV, I think the use case window for the PHEV is very narrow.
If you need to tow with the car, then you're probably in the window. If the vast majority of your miles are local runs with < 40 miles a day (charging up during the day is still cheaper than fossil fuels, but not by a huge amount), interspersed with the odd long trip, then that probably works too...though charging infrastructure improvements diminish that.
For our requirements (we wanted 7 usable seats) the only other option was an EV9...and the deal we were offered on the XC90, plus it being ahead in quality and, finally, us being very familiar with them swung it. But in terms of daily run costs and for general usability, I suspect the EV9 would have been more sensible.
So I'd rule out the PHEV, unless you tow a lot

I'm waiting for the Q6 e-tron reviews to appear, which shouldn't be long now.
In a Macan S at the moment and miss the higher driving position that my previous Cayenne diesel used to provide, and the wafty, effortless torque. That's why I'm strongly considering going EV. But I'm a private buyer so will probably have to accept being bent over somewhere with depreciation.
We'll see.

This is the problem I have. Currently have a Forester XT, which is brialliant in so many ways. Tows 2 ton easy. Powerful, differant, smooth, comfortable. BUT averages 30 mpg, 25 when towing.....which I do maybe once a week for 20 miles pulling about 1/2 ton. I'd like to replace it with something EV...have the use of a cheap ICE car and a summer use ICE convertible.If you need to tow with the car, then you're probably in the window. Edited to add, I have solar as well, with plenty to spare for EV charging........
