Powerverse Vchrgd EV Charger
Discussion
Thought I’d stick a post up as I was conscious I’d mentioned in another thread that I had signed up for a Vchrgd charger.
All arranged through Powerverse during a special offer for £599 supplied and fitted. Fortunately I’d had an isolator switch and upgraded tails fitted during my smart meter install meaning that it was a very straightforward install, so no extra costs. I went for the tethered unit which comes with a 5m cable and has a built-in holder for the connector. The cable is able to be coiled round the unit for storage though I might buy a hook so I can just coil and place on that instead.
Powerverse tasked ChargedEV to carry out that actual install and I honestly couldn’t fault them. Installer lived about 15 minutes from me and messaged me the night before to arrange a time. He arrived exactly when he said he would and did a very neat job, discussed where exactly I wanted the charger fitted, tidying up after himself and going through setup of the charger etc.
I did have an issue with an overvoltage fault but this was down to the DNO which seems to have been resolved by SP EN. In short, the units are sent out with a voltage limit and I was getting about 5v over it at times. Good communications with Powerverse though, who were quick to do what they could at their end so I could keep using the charger.
Using the app - it’s fairly basic but I’m quite happy with it. I’m just using the schedule option for 23:30 to 05:30 for Octopus intelligent Go tariff. I’m charging a Model3 LR so only charging about once a week. (Charger isn’t Octopus compatible yet but the car is so I can set it up that way, just haven’t bothered yet). Shows costs/power used etc and charge history. Got an email from Powerverse today advising that a new version of the app is due out in a couple of weeks, so will see what that brings.
Overall, I’m really happy with the unit so far. I’m in no way affiliated with Powerverse, I just wanted to share my experience to give another option if you are looking for a charger. They have another deal on just now so it’s worth a look.

Intelligent Go requires that you use the Octopus app to schedule the charge at least once a month, otherwise you switch back to the Go version at 9.5p/kWh (IIRC). I’m just using the schedule option for 23:30 to 05:30 for Octopus intelligent Go tariff. .
