Can't get a straight answer from the three installers I have asked so I thought the collective minds on here might be able to help have had the same scenario

Need to replace my EV charger. Currently have an EO mini pro2 with a separate Garo unit as this charger has no PEN protection built in.

If I go with a charge like Ohme (works with Octopus IO Go) which has built in PEN protection, will the charger need to be completely re-wired or can the installer simply swap the charger on the wall.

I guess this doesn't impact the cost of the charger just the labour to install it. Not sure I want a tethered charger yet so it might have to be something like Wallbox but I guess if they have PEN protection internally I will have the same challenge

It should be trivial to leave the RCBO in the Garo unit for cable protection and loop out the PEN part if you wish to rely on the one (aledgedly) built in to the EVSE.

ETA: When I say loop out - it is actually simpler, just moving the connections to the RCBO
