A bit too new to UK shores IMHO. I doubt their spares are available here, and unlike Tesla, they don't have many people to look after them yet.

Ant they are right.

MG are simply buying business at the moment.
Massive discounts on offer without too much effort.

Friend was offered discounts on a new MGZS without even asking for a discount.
She made enquiries around a couple of MG dealers and the were ringing her back with discounted offers.

£5k off a £17800 car clinched the deal

MG made a £54million profit in the UK last year (£4.2m the year before). Revenue of £1bilion, I'd say they are doing something right.

The number of SAIC Maxus vans on the UK roads is amazing.
They must be good value for money.

They've been getting very good reviews. BYD's batteries, especially, seem to be a half-step ahead of everyone else's at the moment.

Based on 2023 registration volumes that's only £1200 per car.

Their volumes are growing rapidly because the business is being proped up.

Batteries are BYD's core business, cars, mobiles etc.

Expanding and propped up, yet still profitable, I'd imagine they're pretty happy. They are doing very well in other markets too.

You also need to look at the 2022 sales figures, 2023 sales are much higher.

5% profit margin isn't exactly amazing

Market placement does not make any sense. Model 3 Long Range is the same price but you get the charging network.

BYD's core business is batteries.

Chinese EV manufacturers are a decade ahead of Western brands.

Throw into that the cheap cost of labour, materials (as they have a lot of the supply chain secured), tooling etc & the Western brands have a problem.

When the Chinese have driven every other car manufacturer out of business and/or bought the remains of peanuts using CCP money, how will you feel?

Interestingly enough I sat in three BYD cars yesterday including the Seal. I am on holiday in Australia and they had them on display in the local shopping mall. There was also a Polestar "shop" which had all models inside, it seems the Chinese EVs are being sold in the same way you would buy a phone or a laptop.

EVs are the equivalent of mobile phones and it is clear that most parts of European EVs are made in China anyway.

I five to ten years Chinese makers will have decimated the European brands by undercutting their prices. Why would you buy the more expensive European brands when the motors and batteries are all the same anyway?

How will I feel? Not really sure how I will feel, everywhere I look things are made in, or have Chinese components already. It certainly won't be a surprise, most of the main Euro brands are getting into bed with Chinese manufacturers. My preference is to buy a European car, which I did.

How will you feel?

Saw a BYD Dolphin a couple of days ago, first BYD car I have seen and from a couple of meters looked very European as I initially thought it was a new Peugeot or Vauxhall.

I expect these will be a common sight over the next 12 months like Polestars and Teslas as long as they get the leasing pricing right with estimated future values or offer leasing companies discounts to may them a viable choice.

That suggests there is a right way to feel about it and that there is something we can do to change that outcome.

I'm all ears.
