I’m looking at second hand Jaguar I Pace’s, they have depreciated like a stone and are very tempting at £30k for a HSE.

I know the known issues, AC, leaky windscreen and 12v battery. Also the range isn’t amazing.

I test drove a late 2020 model, with Pivi pro and it drove really well.

We have an ICE car in the household and the I pace will be used mostly for commuting. It will also be my first BEV.

I don’t know whether to take the plunge or not, everything I read says they are fantastic cars but when they go wrong it’s a nightmare. Any owner experiences that are positive will be welcome!

Take a look at Approved Used cars. Prices seem much the same as from third-party sellers, but you get a £2k finance incentive, 2 years warranty / Jag assist, and a free home charger.

I just bought a 2019 Approved Used "S" with 40k miles for £20k. It was compelling compared to £18k for a Kia Niro. Only time will tell whether it was a good idea or not, but I guess I've got two years under warranty to find out ....

It made me smile that Jag have so much faith in their product that there is a button in the car which you press to call for roadside assistance. I don't think they have those on Toyotas .....

I’m looking at approved used, the condition of the car was brilliant. It’s on an OE plate so JLR and could of been used for anything but I’ll never know.

I’m going to finance through my bank but they are still going to give me the 2 year warranty.

Take their finance and the £2k in deposit contributions, re-finance through your bank after you have made the first payment.

If you expect to be doing longer trips and fast charging: beware of pre-2021 models.

I know this is getting a bit predictable now, but you have run an insurance quote? A mate got a few myths ago and had a bit of an unpleasant shock.

You might want to check but it’s not normal for manufacturers finance to reclaim the deposit contribution. If you Withdraw within 14 days, rather than Settle, then you’ll save probably a couple of hundred in interest charges.

I have and it’s £20 a year more than my Audi A4. Now I’m hoping it’s not just cheap for the first year.

Based on what you've said it all sounds like a good move to me.

You get 2 years warranty, so absolute worst case reliability-wise you can presumably tell Jaguar to fix it and then sell it on, and from a low starting point you won't lose too much money.

It's a fantastic car! Range and charging speed not great but if it fits your use case not much else like it.

Just back from 200 mile trip in ours in foul, cold weather. 15 miles left on range. Fast, comfortable, surprisingly agile and very refined. Ours is 18 months old and has been very reliable. Feels well screwed together (previous cars were BMW 5 series and Audi RS6).

And a bargain at the moment.

Just don't run one out of warranty (extended warranty is good value).

Taycan is only EV I have driven that I would prefer. But I haven't tried a Polestar...

I've had mine since March, it's a 68 reg 'S' the original owner did specify sir suspension, with the adaptive suspension, it really does handle well with this combination, although I've not tried one with normal coil springs.

Mine is with Jaguar finance, being the S, I didn't get the contribution, but it did come with a Pod point, and warranty (which has come in useful so far..) and Jaguar assist call outs. All that's gone wrong is la 12V battery replacement, and power distribution module.

It really is one of the best cars I've owned though, very fast, handles very well, very cheap to run (with OVO charge anytime) With a full charge costing about £6. Very practical as well. I've yet to try it in snow, as it's been raining all day today, but folk on the Facebook owners page say it performs brilliantly.

If I was to buy again, I would get an SE at least, just for the leather seats, the S has a fake leather.

Make sure it’s had the latest software updates which identify any bad battery cells.

Our IPace has been faultless until we had the recall done. About 8 weeks ago the dashboard started throwing up all sorts of errors. Jaguar assist came out to confirm that the battery had gone into ‘safe’ mode limiting the cars charging to 72%. The wait for fixing these issues is horrendous at the moment, my appointment just for diagnosis is 8th January (booked over 4 weeks ago). After that you will go into a queue for the bad battery cell to be replaced, the current waiting time is 4 months!

I love the car but as soon as the car is fixed I will be getting rid as the dealer network is terrible.

I’ve had an hse since dec 20 (21 model) as a company car and have done nearly 40k miles in it. It’s let me down twice in the first six months and it was the 12v battery both times. Second time they replaced the battery rather than just fast charge it and it’s been fine ever since.
I’ve had two accidents in it - went into the back of a Ford kuga and there was hardly any damage to my bumper but the front pedestrian (bonnet) airbags went off and then someone went into the back of me.
I had a polestar as a replacement courtesy car and Skoda enya.
Jag way better to drive than them two and faster too.

Charge at home normally and get 269 on full charge in summer and about 229 in winter. Has 100kw fast charging so it’s fine for occasional long trips and charging at public stations.

List on mine was about £86k and company paying £750 per month on 1+35 so if you can get one for below 25k, I think it’s no brainer.

I too have just taken the leap of faith and bought a Nov 2020 HSE for £25,000 incl 3 years jaguar approved warranty and roadside assist (+ free charger and MOT insurance). Just could not resist at the price (was almost £80,000 new). So far I love it, It feels great, its comfortable, fast if needs be and looks very contemporary (mine has black trim and wheels). I was concerned about the insurance but it was £438.00 - more than my XFR but still reasonable! My advice go for it!

Any idea if they still go ahead with the free home charger if you do this?

I assume the deposit contrib has already gone to JLR finance and taken off the debt, but the charger install would probably still be pending within 14days?

How much negotiation was required to get the third year warranty and such a good price?

They do, charger is nothing to do with finance. To reassure, I took finance, got the deposit and paid it off the day I collected the car. The ‘give it a month/2 months’ is nothing to do with the finance company, it’s because if you pay off too early the dealership loses its commission on setting up finance.
I still got all the incentives no problem at all

I've tried a dual motor polestar... Smart little cars but there's none of the genuine sportiness from an iPace or Taycan. You'd certainly miss the luxury of the Jag too!
