Maybe this is more the VW section but I'll try here first.

Our set up is: '22 VW E-Up!, Ohme intelligent charger, Octopus Intelligent tarriff

We've had this running for almost a year now. Not flawless but basically works. Set up so that car only charges overnight on cheap rate unless we intervene.

Possibly coincidental but last month, VW dropped the we connect app and moved us to the Volkswagen app.

It now seems that the Ohme charger cannot communicate with the car reliably or sometimes at all. We're frequently not getting the car charged overnight and the ohme app has no idea of the car charge status. We can override it and force a charge but that costs us nearly 5x as much.

I've also noticed that the car's warm up schedule almost never works but maybe it has to be actually receiving charge at the time this is scheduled which probably never happens with octopus intelligent tariff.

Tried lots of resetting and deleting of apps etc but at present, we have a big headache.

Anyone else seen this?

I thought Octopus Intelligent Go was fully-compatible with Ohme chargers, regardless of what car was connected?

Can't you just let the charger handle the scheduling, and leave the car/VW app permanently ready to charge?

Cheers. Will see if I can figure out how to set it up that way. I assume in that scenario you cannot cap the charging to prolong battery life as we normally would? Maybe a good short term work around though. But would still love to know why it did work and now it doesn't. Ohme themselves have been hopeless so far.

The issue is 100% the new awful Volkswagen app. It’s rendered 90% of the features useless for our Passat GTE. Preconditioning has literally never worked since the switchover, regardless of scheduled or manually initiated.

The way it works on our Tesla is that Octopus fully control the Ohme charger. We’re logged out of the Ohme charger and app completely and set the charge limit in the Octopus app alongside the time you want the car ready by. I do set a charge limit on the car to match but I don’t need to as this is controlled by Octopus. When we were using the Ohme app it would fight with Octopus

Cheers. The issue is that Ohme cannot communicate with the car so it has no idea on charge level for the car itself and therefore could not know when to stop charging and therefore neither does Octopus. It actually charged okay last night but to 100% rather than 85% where we have the normal cap set but it was a small win at least.

It's strange with the Up! because (despite it being 2023) with the We Connect App we couldn't actually set timed pre-conditioning. We could manually ask the car to warm up if we remembered but no scheduling. Now we have the VW app, we could set a schedule. Woohoo. And it worked......... once! And now never again. I'm not sure if this is also linked to the fact that there is no longer any working communication between car and charger. Or maybe, as you say the app might just be borked.

Seems our charger is goosed. There is a problem with the VW API which Ohme have admitted to but the charger will not connect to its own app. It has characters missing from the screen and keeps power cycling. We cannot now use it at all. Having to charge from the 3 pin cable which is sort of manageable for the very short term but we can only squeeze in about 12kw per night in our low cost period so need to get it sorted quickly.

Ohme are being f'ing useless. Do not reply to emails. If we phone them we can just leave a message to be called back which they never do. So pissed off with them at the moment. Anyone got any tips for getting some actual response from them?

Do you not have a warranty with the charger, who installed it?

The purchase was from Ohme directly and installed via one of their 'partners', a local electrician. 3 year warranty but that is no use to us if we cannot get Ohme to respond to us in any way. Think it's worth speaking to the installer?

Yeah potentially. I presume your 'contract' is with Ohme as you paid the full price directly to them Inc installation? Or was the installation paid separately?

Also if you paid by credit card, it might be worth speaking to them under section 75.
