Ah, do you have to have thr flag with the country code? The blue & red of the flag clash with the green (;

I've only seen one EV with "UK" in the green strip.
Would have expected more as, without the designator, you have to display a UK sticker when abroad.

Obviously the 'UK' logo isn't required on a green number plate, since EVs' pathetic range means no sane person would ever attempt to take them on an international trip...

If you believe the Government the reason they introduced them was -
'The plates will make it easier for cars to be identified as zero emission vehicles, helping local authorities design and put in place new policies to incentivise people to own and drive them.

For example, drivers could benefit from local initiatives such as cheaper parking and cost-free entry into zero-emission zones where those with a green number plate will be recognised as eligible.'
https://www.gov.uk/government/news/green-number-pl...
Although that version was withdrawn and replaced with https://www.gov.uk/government/news/road-to-zero-in...

I don’t want to help local authorities so that’s 1 good reason not to get one!

I'm not aware of any such schemes just yet.

Personally it depends; as a 'car person' I like to know what model each car I see is. With dedicated EV models like an i3, Tesla or Leaf then the green section seems otiose, however with multi-fuel models like the Niro, 208 or Up, it's kinda nice to be able to tell which ones are fully electric.

The other thing is, the green clashes horribly with some paint colours, but complements others nicely.

If the green 'flash' does in the future offer some sort of privaliges what's to stop an owner of an ICE car fitting such numberplate?

I was at one of the Goodwood members meets earlier in the year and there was a 5l litre, full fat, Mustang with a green stripe on it.

I did appreciate the irony…

I think they should have shades of green on EV number plates. For example, the faster the EV, the brighter the shade of green :-)

The first time I saw a car here in Switzerland with 'UK' on its plate, my passenger thought it was owned by a Ukrainian smile

Seen a large number of 'green strip/plates' on non EV's, quite humorous when I see a 2004 Golf TDI drive past with green strip EV designation plates biggrin ..knew it wouldn't take long.
