EV charging station liability ?
Discussion
Hi all
Question
My workplace has just installed an EV charger system (18 chargers in total) there is currently 1 EV car and 3 hybrids on site.....
anyway it isn't up and running yet, but payment will be done through a 3rd party with an app based system to pay for electric used.
the electric is still supplied by my work, and a contract signed between my work and the 3rd party app (the app takes a percentage)
My work have now put signs up on the EV chargers (32amp) that if any equipment is damaged including your car whilst using the charger, they are not liable and you accept the risk using the chargers
is this right? can they do that, especially when you are paying for the electric, not like its free.
I only ask due to an issue of a gate being left unlocked and ended up having 4 cars with Cats removed from a "secure" car park (thieves drove into car par)
My work just said people park at own risk
Just wondered what the legal obligation is if you are pay for the use of something, but also accept the risk?
Never really checked what its like at public chargers etc, all assumed they would be liable if they damaged our car
cheers

If they are AC 'chargers' then there isn't much scope for damage.Question

The charger itself is in your own vehicle, so it is little more than an AC supply.
