Hi all, just ordered an EV which should be with me in the next few weeks. Just trying to work out the best options for charging... 90% will likely be at home but wondered if signing up to octopus electroverse is worth it? Doesn't seem to be much info out there on it so wondered if anyone has any first hand experience?
Cheers DRG

I used it for the first time last weekend, great app and simple tap to start/tap to stop charge, with the card they provide. The rates were competitive as well and i think i pay the bill from the credit on my home account?

Use this link if you sign up and we’ll be get a whopping £5 credit.

I use it. Mostly works, and preferable to a smorgasbord of apps.

I still have another pile of apps on the phone for charging.

It doesn’t cost you anything so you might as well sign up.

I mainly charge at home, but I’ve used my Electroverse card a few times, and as mentioned it’s easier than than having to deal with a load of different accounts and apps.

I have it as it seemed a no brainer. Access to most networks, some with discounts and it doesn't cost me a penny. It's handy that it comes off the house bill too

I carry my card around. I've used it a few times but the rates were no different to using contactless. Octopus also can't seem to link the card to my home bill. So overall, not much harm having it but not seeing great utility in it right now.

Cool thanks everyone, sounds good generally, not going to change your life but worth a go.

I've used it at a few places (mainly because I got £600 free credit via the Octopus EV SS scheme) and it's worked ok except I just can't get it to work at Shell Recharge chargepoints and I've tried a few via card and app. Not sure what the problem is :/

It's the only card I bother with, and I use it pretty infrequently anyway.

Provides pretty good coverage across various providers, although I would use Instavolt as my preference - and that's contactless.

I used mine in Italy. For certain networks the rate was almost half, but there was a connection fee.

I used Electroverse a lot recently - just scan card and charge at cheaper rates
The charging costs goes onto my Octopus Energy bill and I even got £10 for singing up

It’s excellent. After public charging around 20-30 times a year over the last 8 years having the Electroverse app and rfid card has been a revelation. Makes like so much easier. I have it on a direct debit to my company bank account

The only downside is it doesn’t link to Instavolt, Gridserve or chargeplace a Scotland. But the Paua card / app does so I have that as well. (That’s a commercial card costing £3 per activated rfid card per month and I had to buy a minimum two cards (although there is a free offer at the moment ending v soon) at £6 each. Well worth it for me as I have had so many painful experiences of apps failing / contactless payment failing over the years and being able to get the company to pay for it means there is minimal cost to me.
