Renault Zoe : STOP Electric Motor Failure

My MIL's Zoe came to a halt on the road, with STOP Electric Motor Failure appearing on the dash and was taken the our local Renault garage.
They have undertaken 2 hours of diagnostics, but could not confirm the cause of the issue. The 12v battery replaced as this is often the cause when this error appears. This is supported by numerous posts on EV forums and was the cause when a friend of ours had the same error appear.
However, replacing the 12v has not resolved the issue and it stopped again on a road test and had to be pushed back. The Renault garage are now suggesting 7 to 8 hours of further diagnostic work to identify the issue, which seems a lot as I would expect the car to bring up a fault code to identify the issue.
Before we commit to £900 to £1050 of further diagnostic work, does anyone have any suggestions?

How old is the car?
Searching the web there are several items that can fail, surely a Renault Tech with experience would have a good idea where to look?
7-8 hours for what outcome?
Did they leave the battery disconnected for at least 30mins before swapping out?
Have they fitted the correct battery & was it fully charged, they seem very sensitive to this & has the car ever presented any warning signs?

Give these guys a call before you go any further - they’re well regarded and from what I understand replace the part that is faulty rather than the whole drive unit which tends to be the dealer default position.

Find a local HEVRA garage (or two) and speak to them about it, rather than paying Renault rates.
