Another slightly weird EV with another very odd name.

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.autoexpress.co.uk...

But pretty cheap and should have a real world 300+ mile range and, similar power output to it's big brother, the ocean.

I'm really surprised at the price point given how much fisker seem to be promising.

It's always good to see another EV maker on the scene. The costs seem very competitive, but who knows what we'll get for the asking price?
Let's see what the PEAR is like in real life. By then, the baby Tesla should be out - the EV market's getting better all the time!

“New Fisker Pear to arrive in 2025 with sub-£30,000 price tag”

I’d wager that it won’t arrive in the UK in 2025 & it’ll cost more than 30k

The headlines are great, but rarely achieved !

I think they're pretty serious about their targets for this car - they need to be. There are numerous current and incoming cars from the East that are/will be sub £30k and they're all very high spec in terms of kit and power.

As the car is described, it sounds like a heavily cut back Ocean, leaving the tech in place but stripping down on materials and fabrication in less functional areas - ala Tesla with the model 3.

All these new cars are fast and fun 'because EV' by default, but beyond that they are in reality mid-level cars and need to achieve realistic mid-level pricing if they various manufacturers are to maintain their market share in the face of new competition. I think £30k for a mid level car is about right and it's what the manufacturers need to work towards.

I think the next few years will be very interesting. We have prices coming back down to reality and range and charging speeds creeping upwards. There are also several more niche EV's on their way now - which makes sense now the manufacturers have all ticked the obvious first box and released chunky SUV's.

Fingers crossed we can go a few years without new wars, pandemics or brexits - and we can see real progress made!

Good to see another brand trying to break into the market

I think the difficulty will be small SUV cars like the Mokka EV, Kona and the Volvo EX30 for example, especially the Volvo. Its a hair over £30k but its got that crucial brand name behind it. Realistically, its going to need to be a fair chunk cheaper to get traction you would think. If its just £2k cheaper than a Volvo, would there be many buyers?

I hope its a success though, seems like they've got a good product.
