We have a Renault Megane E tech on order , from UK stock , parked in a field somewhere.

So far it has taken 6 weeks to get it to a dealer , supposedly lack of trucks and drivers !

And now for the fitting of a UK spec alarm

Any one else had these Issues !

Thought the long lead times quoted by Kia and Nissan were bad but this now seems daft when the car we are advised is built and in UK just awaiting delivery !!!

Yes, I suspect many many people have, it's a pretty well publicised issue and has been for some time.

Not anything new to add, but an opportunity for me to have a moan.

I placed an order with Nissan for an epower x-trail back in February, given a pessimistic date but it was alluded to that it could be sooner. Now have a provisional date of late August, but zero communication or faith that this may be the case.

It's only got a small battery, 2.1kwh but I guess a load of chips for all the systems stuff, I'm still not sure I understand why it takes so long when they can produce a car every 2 minutes according to their press...

Very good at sending me marketing e-mails about all of the neat technology and experiences that I will have at some point, which to be honest is just annoying when you don't know a delivery date.

Anyway I wish their communication was a bit better, I seem to remember (maybe BMW or Mercedes) one of my previous cars I could log in to the system and see it's progress where it was in terms of shipping and all sorts. No guarantee, but it was nice to see surely it's not so hard to make that stuff available to customers...

Interesting , does seem a total fiasco but it seems many suppliers of BEV and hybrids are having issues with delivery except maybe Tesla , my friends one turned up a month early !

Well at last it arrived, not sure about the excuses from Renault but hey ho, Smiths of Peterborough were pretty good calling us every week with whatever updates they could get from Renault , even to say the car was on a transporter at the dealer. Handover from them was good to.

The car , well we both really like it so far , between us driving it for around 120 miles with around 60% battery remaining from the full charge it was delivered with. We did get an hours charge at home from Solar with an average charge of around 3kwh. But remember the sun isn’t shinning. The regen mode is interesting , level 4 leaves the car a bit lurch if your inputs are not smooth , 3 seems good around town resulting in one pedal driving 90% of the time. Car never fully stops dropping down to crawl like a conventional auto, just dab the brakes and the car stops and applies holding brake pressure ready to go , this is indicated on dash with green brake lining symbol whereas full parking brake has the normal red.

On the road , very quiet , smooth and is nit disturbed by irregularities in the road surface, big holes only eliciit a bit if a well dammed thump , unlike our previous Quasqui. It drives surprisingly well.

Interior is comfy wife finds the seats comfy ( unusual that ) it’s a nice place to be , still wandering through the huge number of settings and variations. For normal swanning around have left in ECO mode fairly soft response etc , these changes are made by one steering wheel function button no messing with menus etc. Think we have sorted the radio and pretty much mastered Hey Google lol, it works where many told us voice control in cars doesent , understands me for a start , Essex/london accent. Of course Google maps works to and is voice control , just tell car where u want to go. The cloth finished dash is rather nice, nicer than the normal slab of black plastic or leatherette used now on most cars as leather in mid range cars seems to be disappearing , think they call it Vegan Leather lol. No electric seats , but not bothered reslly as wife and I use the same seat settings and position so we don’t change them from one month to next.

Rear seats are a little cramped maybe , but do I care , never sit in them , rear view through quarters not great but , camera and display works well. Boot is fine although deep , we under stand there is an optional floor/deck but it’s pricey. So I am charged with lifting stuff out. Would have been nice to have a power tail gate , but it’s well balanced and easy to operate. With the rest of the tech I suppose something has to be left out.

So far , it’s a nice place to be , nice to drive etc. no real comment on BEV experiance yet , although sport mode could be addictive, new tyres required sooner than maybe hoped lol

Well hit a problem , which appears to be known , the UK fitted alarm is acting up , random triggers , seems to be the air mass sensors in car , have to now disable them every time we leave car until dealers can rectify , trouble is seems to be to me from what dealer said seems to be a wiring error in roof ! That will be fun if the lining needs to come down !

Good to hear Renault keeping up with tradition, even when changing the entire drivetrain of a car they still can't make one without a faulty alarm. Just like in the 90s! It's not a fault, it's nostalgia.

Saw one of these the other day with the gold gumshield on the front, which I now understand was limited to the first few hundred they sold. Having seen it in person, I'd have paid extra not to have the gold!

When it comes to faulty Renaults, there ain’t much I can’t predict rofl

OP, get them to check the boot switch while it’s in, they trap water and fail. It’ll fail next.

Blimey - wife had a new Clio in 1998 and that had its alarm fitted at the import centre.
