I thought this was interesting - I knew the Elise link, and how much of it they ended up changing, but the prehistory of Tesla and the gestation of the roadster was interesting.

I think the alternate project that AC Propulsion pursued unsuccessfully - the converted Scion XB minivan - is the future that Tesla saved us from, which is something to be grateful for. However much of a dick Musk appears to be repeatedly doubling down on being, I think that belief that the only way EVs would get off the ground was to make some exciting ones was correct.

They have already gone up in price. You could get one for £50k a few years ago….PH view seems to be the i3 is a better ‘classic’ EV smile.

I remember seeing one at Denham Airfield in 2011 (either the 25th of March or 1st of July - as I was there watching a friend take part in an open mike night). At first glance it looked like a S2 Elise, so was easy to miss, but the dimensions felt slightly wrong (not in a bad way) at which point I realised what it was and took a closer look. I remember seeing one of the building was being used by a motor racing team so I did wonder if it belonged to someone connected with that.
