Is there a better value EV on the market right now than some of these 2021-22 Zoe ZE50s that are around?

£12.5-£13.5k depending on trim but all with CCS
Sub 15k miles
52kWh usable battery
Battery owned
Surprisingly usable boot space for a smaller car

https://www.usedcars.renault.co.uk/used-cars/16418...

Struggling to find a competitor for them tbh!

People droning on about NCAP need not apply - my other car is a Citroen Ami biggrin

Admittedly they do look like good value, I used to have a Citroen saxo, I also attended numerous RTC's involving them and Peugeot 106, I don't think about NCAP too much.

They were destroyed, but I kept mine until it was costing lots on a yearly basis.

I looked at Zoe's a couple of months ago, they seemed to have a lot of electrical failures which out of warranty were pricey.

Depends what you want from a car I guess. If you're after a car which will rarely carry more than two people the Zoe looks good value, but the same money buys you a ZS EV which, whilst obviously having a smaller range, is a lot more practical for those who want to regularly carry adults in the back. The MG5 is similar money too and so is the 40kWh Leaf.

They have a 5yr 100k warranty, so if budget stretches to a 22, 4 yrs warranty, most a low miles.

Warranty can be extended as well, EVM was saying about £450/yr.

Had a 2020 ZS EV for a year from new - I’m not sure I’d rush to buy another but it wasn’t horrible by any means. I do think the extra range of the Zoe makes it far more usable if, as said, the extra space isn’t needed.

Mine is decent ish, however appalling suspension especially when laden. And the Chinesium tyres are crap. Comfy barge that can do 200 miles +.

That must be the newer model - the mk1 doesn’t get close to 200 miles. You’re not finding a mk2 for £13k!

That’s a very good value way into EVs. We had a Zoe for a month whilst waiting for my wife’s Born to turn up.

A great example of how an EV drivetrain lifts a basic car to a point where it is so much nicer than it would have been with petrol.

Felt really well resolved for what it is - you can tell they’ve been making them for a long time. It just worked how you’d want it to.

The MG ZS I test drove felt like they hadn’t finished developing it. I was willing to consider one as it was £90 less per month than the Born but was an absolute non-started with stiction-riddled steering, poorly calibrated ‘throttle’ action, horrible droning noise that got inside your head, rubbish seat bolsters that were like they’d been filled with cotton wool, just a huge no from me.

I really liked mine (Zoe 50 GTline 135), only got rid of it as I consolidated it and my Lexus GS450H in to a Genesis GV60. Got caught lout by the drop in second hand prices and the high electricity price caused additional drop in second hand EV prices. Trying to make out the hinge at the bottom of the CCS flap - description does say Rapid Charge, so I assume it is there. Mine had the Winter Pack (heated seats and steering wheel) as well as the Tech Pack, but was sold on Motorway for more than that about 4 months back. I also had (at no extra sale value to the car) the boot tidy (was never sure if this was worth it), boot protector strip (not worth it) and arm rest (really worked for me - dealer fit really, though can be done if you know what you are doing).

Pretty sure they’re all ex-Onto, so they do have CCS.

No winter pack though frown seems to be a pretty rare option.

Shame as I took advantage of mine - the steering wheel I would only heat for about 5 minutes as it would get too hot for me, but after that long I would not need it any more.

I have one on a lease.
It’s pretty good I’d say. Now that the second hand prices have tanked, I’d say it’s a fairly unbeatable value proposition for a EV city run about, considering refinement, equipment and range.
It is a lot bigger than I expected, although the back isn’t huge - plenty of room in the front.

Refinement round town is fine. Not the best on Motorways for noise etc but it’s no worse than anything else of that kind of size and segment.

The seats are not great, very flat with literal lateral support and no height adjustment.
Fine enough but not comfortable.

Range on the 50 - easily seeing +200 in summer at 4.1m/kWh without trying.
Nippy enough when driving, but too much body roll for my liking so not sporty, but nice to pootle around in.

I’m paying something like £9k for mine over a 3year lease. The Lease company must be taking a bit of a hit on it. Glad I didn’t buy one now when the list price was £30k 😳

Very tempting. They are now at or approaching 10k. Literally 3-4 months ago...they were much closer to £20k.

At the right price they fly out though - the dealership
I bought this from has sold about six in a week and the salesperson was selling another over the phone when I arrived to collect it!

It’s like a return to normality - the idea of paying full list for a bloody Renault is insane no matter what’s under the bonnet.

Congratulations smile

Yes, these look like good value at the moment. Such a change in the EV market in the last 6 months.

I note things like the Corsa e are similarly priced (a bit more) but the Zoe has a slightly bigger battery and better range doesn't it.

Please let us know in time what range and efficiency you are able to get smile

Corsa E also looks like good value in the current market - faster charging definitely appeals. Don’t think Vauxhall are putting anything like as much support behind them in terms of finance offers though - this is on a 2.4% APR PCP for 36 months at less than £150/month with a tiny deposit. 0% was available for a 24 month term.
