Can I leave cables fastened to an untethered charger?
Discussion
I am looking at installing a charger at work. Due to the layout of the building and car parking I need to use a free standing charger. However my installer says I can’t have a twin free standing charger with tethered cables which was my original preference. However is there anything to stop us leaving the charging cables always fastened to the charger? Sorry if it’s a daft question but I haven’t seen the chargers up close and in use.
I leave one in mine sometimes. Low risk area for theft. I can lock it in the charger end if wanted.
However I don’t see why you couldn’t have two tethered, whats the difference? What was the installer’s rationale?
I personally have one tethered one untethered so i can attach a much longer cable to one if needed.

Thanks. So it’s risk of theft that’s the main worry?
I don’t know any more information other than a twin, free standing charger with 5m tethered cables isn’t available. I could get a wall mounted one but that wouldn’t work for my location.
Yeah essentially, somebody can just walk off with your £100/£200 cable.I don’t know any more information other than a twin, free standing charger with 5m tethered cables isn’t available. I could get a wall mounted one but that wouldn’t work for my location.
