I was idly musing over changing our 2nd car (Golf Convertible) for an EV the other day. Another convertible would be great, but options were limited (as far as I knew) to the Fiat e500c, which in my view isn't really a proper convertible.

So when my brother mentioned that Mini were releasing an EV droptop I hurried over to their website to sign up and book a test drive... until I saw this...

In case you missed it...

Yes, fifty two thousand pounds. For a Mini... WTAF?

There’s only going to be 150 of them to start with isn’t there? They’ll sell them all, no idea who to though.

Apparently, yes. I assume that's some sort of justification for it being more than £20k on top of the tin top version. I like the concept and it would work perfectly for us as a 2nd car and charging point already fitted at home, but I just can't stomach that price. Hopefully there will be something suitable along in the next couple of years.

Ive got a 2023 my Mini level 3 e and its st...dealer said around 150 miles, in reality 100 miles range if that, its a good job the wife uses it for work, I think id had set fire to it by now if it was my car.. the charging network is utter crap, I went to the one at Sandwich Quay this afternoon, yet another app needed downloading in a 4g black hole, and the app wasn't available, no wonder no one was charging in the other 3 bays. Oh and that much for a coverable Mini.
Nope...

Fiftytwothousandfivehundred Pounds???????????????????

On the other hand, I must say that I love the 3-door. Unfortunately wife doesn't want to swap banghead

I'ts a great car for short commutes, I get around 110 miles now and around 130 in summer, but the indicated range on the car itself is pure guess. Most of the times I use it I come back home with the same range I had when leaving. It's probably due to the very short commutes we do that doesn't allow the computer to properly calibrate.
