Currently looking at my next company car, with an emphasis on it being EV.
Home charger would only be used for charging the company car, is it normal practice that an employer will stump the installation cost?

Searching on PH and google don't seem to yield results other than Gov.UK EIM23900;
Employer pays for a vehicle charging point to be installed at the employee’s home;
No taxable benefit because of section 202(1) ITEPA 2003 (and section 239 (4)).

TIA

Completely up to the employer. If they are not enforcing electirc cars on to the employee then I see no reason they would have to.

If their policy now says that all employees must have electric cars then it would make more sense for them to include chargers as part of that.

My previous employer had EV's on the list but up to you to pay for the charge point install (which i did as the tax saving paid for it in under 3 months). Current employer will pay for the install if you opt for an EV

So the answer is yes....or no..... smile

Mine will give you £500 gross via payroll if you get a charger installed via their chosen partner (whose product is middling at best)

I’d be more interested in the cost of the electricity. Can you claim for that on expenses?
