Released yesterday, and while it doesn't seem a natural replacement for our i3s it could be a sensible if slightly boring option as we want a bit more space and range.
270 mile range, 300bhp, £50kish price. I'm not a big fan of the looks but will be interested to see how it drives and pricing on my company car scheme. Sounds like it is similar size to an xc40 with boot space similar to a 3 series touring.
Just a shame it's on a compromised platform designed for ICE as well.

I don't think its a direct replacement thoughExpecting to see MG hatchback later part of this year, Ora Cat or something from China might come, Kia EV/Hyundai coming out with smaller EV's in the not too distant future as well as the Megane e tech so at least the options will increase a bit over the next 12 months or so

Are you serious? One is a toy made out of plastic that has the stability of a unicycle at M-way speeds and a cross wind, kids cannot get out of the back without the front doors opening. The other looks like a practical, family car, with excellent specs and decent pricing. The i3 is interesting, but most family buys cars that are practical.
Yes the i3 is a worthy enough car but not what the masses wanted. 10 years ago every other car was a grey or silver 320d, a 320d is all you need. Today Tesla model 3s replace it as the super efficient tax saving BIK company car. Finally BMW have caught up with the i4 and now this iX1.
People didn't take to the original A class Mercedes or the Audi A2, BMW should have learnt from that.
A colleague at work has an i3 but all his wheels are shot with curb damage as the tyre offers no protection, the design is rubbish.

He wants to be more careful, we drove ours for 12 months and 15k miles (mostly around town) and not a mark. The wheels on the Model 3 P were far worse.JackReacher said:

Ignoring all the other idiots, I think the iX1 is a great looking SUV and the interior is leagues ahead of any of the competition. 270 mile range, 300bhp, £50kish price. The comment about a ‘compromised platform’ really isn’t valid any more though. These BMW models like this and the 4GC/i4 are designed to be ICE and EV from the start, there are no compromises like you got with the iX3.

It is an ugly blandobox
If soft touch plastic and fake chrome impress you, well that's a matter of taste
Compromises like the piss poor range
