Wow, impressive specifications. If I were Polestar though, I'd be worrying about my sales being eaten by the break out identical (and probably cheaper) Volvo!

The specs look very familiar - 300kW dual motor, 78kWh battery, 0-62 in 4.7s, 400+km range, Android OS.
Personally, I like the XC40, although the boot is a little on the small side, and the quality doesn't feel as good as the 60 and 90 series cars. What do we reckon?

It’s 400km WLTP / 200 miles EPA
Looks great
A bigger bigger battery than our 75kWh X, but 34 less EPA miles, despite our X been a much bigger car able to seat 6 adults+luggage.Looks great

How did Hyundai/Kia manage so get so much more range from the Kona/eNero despite been equally brick shaped in size/style and a smaller battery?
The blurb says "400+ km" which means they're expecting it to be over 400km, but it hasn't been tested yet. In the meantime, they don't want to put you off buying the hybrid version instead by announcing a big impressive range number.
Polestar 2 is targeting 500km WLTP with the exact same batteries and motors.

I assume the motors just pull less power from the battery? They offer a lot less performance than the XC40 anyway. How did Hyundai/Kia manage so get so much more range from the Kona/eNero despite been equally brick shaped in size/style and a smaller battery?
I'm assuming the X just has better technology and doesn't have the aerodynamics of a barn door? The front end of the XC40 is very blunt, another issue with converting an ICE design to EV where aero isn't quite as important. Big wing mirrors, stick out door handles, roof rails, all of these things will rob range?

It looks okay, never been a fan of Volvo interiors but otherwise it seems nice and the price isn't too silly either.
Why the side charging port though? Such a terrible idea. Front is always best.
Our i3 has side port and works great. Problem with front port is it forces you to drive forward into charging spaces in busy car parks and then reverse out, which is never a great idea. Why the side charging port though? Such a terrible idea. Front is always best.

eNero isn't exactly aero, infact just as much of a brick as the XC40 but still archives far more range with a smaller battery?
Hyundai/Kia have some kind of secret EV efficiency sauce!
Just look at the difference in weight and power output between those 2 cars and the XC40 and it should be fairly obvious how they get more range?Hyundai/Kia have some kind of secret EV efficiency sauce!
Yep, I've owned an EV with a side port and an EV with a front port and I've much preferred it on the side for a few reasons. Glad to see it positioned on the side of the XC40 as it's looking like this is going to be high on my wishlist for when I change cars next year (along with the model 3 and Polestar 2). The Volvo is definitely looking the most dog friendly and quite like the idea of 400hp in a small, lowkey SUV.

I cant find any information on when its out and ball park prices?
Late 2020. £49k.Makes the Polestar 2 look like a bit of a bargain also for a car designed from the ground up as an EV?
