The Tesla Model 3 Performance seems to tick all the boxes for an everyday performance car - comfortable and refined yet will match a McLaren F1 to 60 and do 0-100mph in 8.5 seconds (similar to a 993 turbo), can seat 5 adults, does 150mpg+ as well as having very low servicing costs, has predicted c.60% residuals over 3 years and costs less than £60k?

Your thoughts please...

Because it can only do that performance for <30 seconds, and for a sub 100 mile range, if you actually use anything near the maximum power.

Ever seen a Tesla getting thrashed about? I haven't. I expect it is a combination of them not being that fun and range anxiety.

If you want a 200 mile + range, nice and quiet way to get about, with a large upfront cost but cheaper fuel bills.... then it's probably the car for you.

Because there’s more to cars that just figures? For me they miss the stuff like sound, drama etc that other cars can offer for that much cash.

The car itself doesn’t appeal; the exterior is bland as a fridge and I don’t like the interior not the fact that everything is controlled via the singe screen.

They make sense as a company car driver now that they’re tax free as of next financial year. A chap at work has ordered one and reckons he’ll save £5k a year when compared to his current 320d. That’s a lot of cash.

Cos you can order whatever you want and pay a deposit, get promised a July delivery, then the price goes up, which is passed on despite having placed an order and agreed a price, then delivery goes to August, then September, probably October now, get told there’s some cars coming but not in your spec and do you want one of those instead... The tale goes on and on... Utter shambles of a gang to deal with!

Can’t wait for the proper car manufacturers to start producing viable alternatives in decent numbers and take one of those instead. And you’ll get some meaningful knobs, switches, buttons and dials to work with rather than a big TV.

I've got a fun to drive EV as my daily. It is carbon fibre, rear wheel drive, has a premium interior, and is more than fast enough to deal with anything i meet on my commute.

It cost £16k second hand, and over 3 years has cost just 1.6 pence per mile to run.

Pretty sure you're thinking of the 2012-launched modelS there. He's talking about the 3. Loads of videos of them at the track, they even have a track mode!

indeed. Which makes it even more hilarious when it chops the unsuspecting ICE car off the lights or down a country lane ;-)

Because Teslas are ugly and expensive and I like the noise that a nice petrol engine makes too much.

You sound like my late mum. “It’s my face, I don’t mind it, I’m behind it” she used to say. Another she used to say about others was “she can’t help her looks, but she could stay at home”.

To offer a more balanced perspective, a Model 3 would be a great choice if you cover big miles.

utter nonsense there are plenty of vids of M3P doing full sessions on track, the only thing that affects the performance is the SoC but only by a relatively small amount

They get about the same number of laps on a charge as i have got out of my ICE cars on track on a tank of fuel, recharging will be a pain thou

Even Tiff the hater of EVs said the M3P was fun on track, as did Nico Rossberg and Money and pretty much most people who have driven it

I can understand not wanting to give musk money thou

What is this Big Oil and is there a little Oil? rofl

Very defensive Dave and you don’t even have yours yet. Don’t get sucked into the cult of Tesla too soon, we need a balanced review from you when you get your hands on the car.
