Charge point on a grade 2 building in a conservation area.
Discussion
Hi guys,
We are having a third viewing on a beautiful cottage which was built in the 1600's and is in a conservation area. I hope to get an electric car in the next 12 months or so and have just realised that fitting a home charger might be an issue. Is there anybody out there with experience of doing this and what issues have you come across? Can chargers be fitted a good distance from a property in a sympathetic cabinet or similar. Any info would be very useful.
Thanks.

Conservation area will mean that they will want it hidden from being seen from any public place/road etc.
Listed building means that you should apply for Planning/Listed Building Consent (which you would need to do for the above, anyway). It's free. But on Grade 2, for a 12 or 13mm hole in the wall, I can't see any real issue - unless something about the walls is of massive significance.
Be friendly with your Conservation Officer. Always.

Yep, there is an attached Victorian extension at the side which is a garage at the front so I’m assuming I can mount the charger within the garage itself. Maybe put a hidden flap in the wooden garage door to run the cable through, as and when needed.
Love the idea of that charging post which was on fully charged recently. It disappears into the ground when not in use.
